This is a serious question: would someone please explain to me how to kill people in multiplayer. I am relatively new to Halo (from Battlefield) and I cannot kill anyone. I am constantly one shot killed and I don’t stand a fighting chance. This is not enjoyable. I keep thinking there is some trick. I shoot people just as much as they shoot me but I always die first. I don’t get it. I really want to like this game but at this point I am not even remotely having fun.
Edit: certainly seems like one shot (I’ll record next time). Regardless, death is too quick compared to others.
Take an Assault Rifle (the gun you spawn with), aim it at the enemy using right thumb stick, depress right trigger in such a manner that you cannot depress it anymore, continue to hold down the trigger and aim at the guy until they die. Be warned, the enemy might not stay in one place so you will have to follow them.

Thanks. I was waiting for someone like you. Mr. Helpful…
Define “spawn”
Where do I find this thing you call “right thumb stick”
Trigger. Is that some new record player?
What if it hurts to hold down this trigger “in such a manner that you cannot depress it anymore”?
Thank you so much for answering my questions. You have proven yourself most helpful.

The enemy spartan will flash and have a sort of electric field around them.
I am having the same problem but currently I am still having fun, I think my issue is my aim must just not be as good but I cant tell. I think I am landing hits in the 1 v 1 but I just mustn’t be.
So basically every map has weapons that are better than what u start with. The smg is really good in this game. Easy to use aswell but only for close range. I personally never go for sniper because I suck. But the battle rifle and DMR are both easy to learn to use. Also, this game has a crap ton of grenades. Launch them every chance u get. No use to you if your dead.
My favorite playlist is swat, some people think it’s easy but whatever lol. U could learn with that since everyone has the same weapons and its balanced (some maps are not but that’s another discussion)

Spawn: when a player dies, they come back at some random point in the map.
Right thumb stick: the lower stick that is on the right side of the controller, usually controls your view.
Trigger: the buttons that you pull down to shoot or throw grenades.
What if it hurts holding down the trigger: don’t worry, you get used to it after a while.
That response, Yes. Trolling back to being trolled.
But I am seriously trying to figure out what I am missing with how to kill in Halo MP. I’ve played Cod, Destiny, and Battlefield all with no problem. I am not a great player but usually hover around 1.25-1.50 KDR. I am sitting around 0.60 with Halo 5 so far.
Halo’s a little different than other shooters in that engagements can be a little extended due to the shields and the movement. You’re going to want to try practicing with people around your skill level or tell your friends to go easy on you a bit in a custom match and get the hang of the aiming and the cues of shields, recharge, movement, et cetera. Playing in campaign can get you the basics of how to play, but after you get comfortable fighting with AI, try playing customs like I said before.
