Help connecting with Party

I have one friend who recently got an Xbox 1 with the MCCollection so that we could do the campaigns on coop. However, every time we try to join each others game, it says “connection failed, your connection to the game session has failed please try again.”

We can join a party and chat, but cannot get into the same game session in any part of the game. If one of us is in a multiplayer game, the other gets a message that says that the game session is closed.

After two nights of trying everything we can think of, I’m getting frustrated and would appreciate any help.

Try having a friend that you both can join invite you guys and leave after you have both joined his lobby. It might make one of you guys host and let you play campaign together. If neither you or your friend get split after the host leaves, load up a custom game and play it for a minute or 2, then end it just to make sure you guys are connected well together. Then enjoy the campaign. Hope this helped
