Helmets season 2

Does anyone else think that a ton of the helmets in the s2 bp and store make their mark vii spartan look like either their head shape makes no sense (due to eye placement or like they’re looking down/helmet is not aligned/on their head correctly? I can’t tell if this is deliberate or not. @ske7ch is this a bug or something that only ‘eagle eyed’ people see/think?

Yes, this has been a thing since h5.

I didn’t really notice it in 4, or 3 or reach, if it was prevalent at all.

Yeah some definitely make it look like they’re looking down.

Some of them it seems like the eyes are cosmetic for people looking at the armor. With some helmets having 0 eye slots and explaining that there’s sensors so no need for visors. It wouldn’t be so much of leap to say sensors make eye holes obsolete.

I get that and even though I was never a huge fan of those helmets, it has always made sense. I’m primarily talking about helmets like; cleox, anubus, ISR, or Volant. Some of these the visor doesn’t seem like it would line up with where eyes are on a human head. Volant is especially odd because either the player-model wearing it is looking down, or the helmet fits in a way where the persons eyes are covered by the top of the helmet. It literally looks like the visor only goes in front of the lower nose and mouth. Basically, either its incorrectly fitted on the player model or it’s fit correctly and the Spartan’s got a real dented head haha.

They do, but equipment failure is a “thing” and it’s an in-universe reason that helmets will still have visors despite visors being the weakest component of the armor (think of it like glass on a house - the walls are going to stand up to a lot more punishment than a window will)

That said, there’s an issue with Size Reference models not being used when designing the helmets. This was a really common issue with Halo 5, with some helmets being too small, others being too large, and some having it so the visor is nowhere near where the size reference model’s eyes would be.

I’m assuming this is why Firefall looks very fat-head like
