Helmet off and face customization

I like how in ODST you could have your helmet off. But what if you could customize your own face and hair and eyes and stuff. Like in Spartan ops in clips your spartan could take your helmet off and see your creation.

I wonder if Spartan Ops will have cut scenes…

I wouldn’t hate it, but I think it would be completely extraneous.

> I wonder if Spartan Ops will have cut scenes…

Yes it will, they said that spartan ops will have CG cut scenes.

Not necessary.

I would prefer to see a cast of four different characters (like Halo 3) rather than something Noble Six-ish. Would make the canon much deeper seeing people rather than simple avatars.

Not for Chief, if he’s in it, but yea I wouldn’t mind

Seems kind of pointless to me. Besides, the Spartans lose their mysticism as soon as their helmets are removed. Why do you think that the Master Chief and, arguably, Noble 6 were such cool characters?

That is kind of the way I see it. Getting personal with the Spartans makes them weak in my mind.

No, I mean how would you survive a BR headshot?

That would be a rather pointless addition. In plus, most people would keep their helmets on anyway.

I like the idea, not all spartans have to be iconic helmets, maybe that could be an option reserved for custom games and spartan ops. Plus you wouldn’t have to take your helmet off so not much argument on the opposing side. Personally I’d like to use a kinect to put my face on my spartan, like you could do in rainbow six vegas 2 (it wasn’t kinect but it was the same idea.)

same rules as ODST firefight, helmet or no helmet was just a visual preference.

No thanks

I was going to respond and say “no, just no.” But what if people with kinnect could scan their own face and make that their character, that way you really are the face behind the mask…

I was thinking along the same lines, in a few more years it will be a good looking representation of your face, one day. We can dream any way. Still waiting for those hoverboards and flying cars.

Wouldn’t, canonically, removing the helmet from your power armour shut down the shields too?

Kind of meh for me, it isn’t a bad idea, but I don’t really think it’s a very good idea either. Honestly I wouldn’t care that much.

I love this idea, the spartan you play as in spartan ops is you…so why not be able to make him/her look the way you want, as long as chief never removes his helmet it’s okay, but think about it, it’s you behind the mask

Instead of having the helmet off ingame, the whole face customization thing could be reserved for ingame cutscenes (not the CG ones since those are pre-rendered, but regular ingame ones)? Since it’s not like you’ll be seeing your own face outside of cutscenes anyway. That could work, if 343i took the time to put it in, though i’ll be content just with improved armor customization options.

I’d rather they spend the time it would take to build worthwhile face customization, and the movement/expressions/other stuff that would be required, on something else.
