Helmet hitboxes

I’m guessing since this game is so well balanced that hitboxes don’t vary with different helmets. Is that correct?

If so, is the hitbox as big as the largest helmet or as big as the smallest helmet? I recently unlocked Argus Arestor (love it!) and had the thought.

All helnets share the same hitbox size, thats correct.

Well Luke TheNotable made a video about the Deadeye helmet can keep u alive because it’s so small

I like shooting unicorn heads since they are easy to see.

I don’t know who Luke the Notable is, but I kind of doubt this claim. You remember when they were like “oh my gosh you guys some little detail about Icarus armor is different than other armors, so we’re banning it from the Halo championship thing”? Well, if this claim about the Deadeye helmet was true, I think more than just Icarus armor would have been banned.

For one reason or another I think footsteps were muffled or muted when wearing the Icarus armor. It wasn’t related to the hotbox, but was still a minor advantage.

Yes, all the helmets do share the exact same hitbox size in-game, no matter how small or big they are to appear. Obviously if this were true, everyone would have been using the helmet with the smallest hitbox size imo.

This is incorrect. What he said, was that inexperienced players may have a harder time getting headshots on them because of the perception of it being smaller. However, he clearly said that all helmets share the same hitboxes.

That’s interesting. I wonder why it messed with the footsteps sound. But in any case, it shows that they would ban armor because of minor advantages. So I still have a hard time believing this Luke the Notable person’s claim

My guess is, Luke is probably using the old claim that smaller helmets alter the psychology of an engagement. If you see a smaller target, it will be harder to mentally track it, or some pseudo science claim like that. Personally I think it’s BS, when I’m taking shots I have hardly any time to clearly identify their helmet. Even if it looks like I’m going to miss the helmet, the hitbox is still there and I get the shot anyways.

All the hitboxes are the same. Even on fotus, the unicorn piece is not part of the hitbox, so go nuts, pick a fatheaded helmet, or a small little acorn sized helmet.

I think it was actually thrusters that were mute not footsteps. I remember reading about it when 343 acknowledged the issue. You couldn’t really hear players charging or thrusting about the map.

Cool, thanks for all the input! I watched the “revisited” version of Luke’s video and he essentially says that helmet type and size is meant to put you at an advantage because of psychological reasons.

The hitbox is the same for all helmets

Well, If you wear the seeker helmet you deserve to be 360 noscoped to the face from base to base lmao. Ridiculously ugly

It also had no stabilize sound or ground pound sound.
