> We need more social gametypes for these people who are new to the game so they actually stay playing it rather than getting upset and going back to their old FPS games.
Why would they get upset? They’re new, they can’t expect to be MLG 420 Gamerfuel immediately. They can either pick a playlist, get ranked somewhere lousy like silver or gold, be annoyed, then get determined, work on their game, and progress their way up by honing their skills. Or maybe not worry about it and just play at their comfort level with people of their rank. That’s pretty much what I do. Unless when you say “go back to their old FPS games” you mean games like Destiny where you can buy a level 25 and not have to work for anything.
Also, OP, I’m sure if they’ve played online video games before, they know the drill.
And this Halo. Equal Starts, no loadouts, balanced gameplay. And it’s 343’s Halo now, so that means weapon balance. You can actually use guns other than the BR and get kills now, so if you’re new and not familiar with the aiming, grab an AR or an SMG and you’ll do fine. Once you get a feel for the game, you’re golden. There are no perks or special gear you need to grind for, no issues with a level 10 Titan with the default pellet gun going against a level 32 Wizard with some magical handcannon or some nonsense. I mean, maybe a little bit in Warzone, but that’s not even ranked, it’s social. And it throws REQ points at you, so they’ll catch up in no time. And even the ranked playlists don’t show your CSR or SR, so you don’t need to be embarrassed in front of a bunch of strangers who don’t know who you are or care because, just like you, they’re too busy worrying about themselves and whether you think they’re noobs.
What I mean is, even if you are a Christmas New Comer, no one knows it. And even if you are rough around the edges, I’ve played since launch and have a few rough matches here & there, so I’m sure people have called me a noob. But like I said above, the fun is learning the game and watching yourself get better over time. That’s the reward in it.
For me at least.
