Helljumpers

Will the helljumpers jump into Infinite or will they spend their existence in hell and will never be seen again?

Good point. We need ODSTs.

Totally agree. Buck was an ODST, but I kinda just wanna play with those AI ODSTs like in H3ODST and H3. My favourite and first Halo was ODST, playing it at a friend’s house then decided buy myself a copy and use my dad’s account to play the campaign since I didn’t have my own at the time. I think that we should see some helljumpers in Infinite, and if we don’t, I will cry into my pillow about no ODSTs. And then I’d proceed to cry myself to sleep, but the next day probably wake up to just play it. I really don’t care for campaigns much, but I like ODSTs. I would like a return of the ODSTs.

I would love to see them again, but if we’re being realistic, most of them are probably Spartan IVs. That being said, we could have Spartan IVs wearing the ODST and Helljumper Armor?

I really miss them. It would be great if they return in Infinite.

I see what you did there. I’m still just a Rookie when it comes to jokes and puns.

actually, only handful of ODSTs went on to become Spartan IVs, even at this time ODSTs still aren’t fond of spartans. also ODSTs clearly outnumber Spartan IVs, with ODSTs being somewhere in the thousand and there being only about 500 S-IVs

Yeah I agree. Playing with Marines I’m their OD green combat uniforms is always great, but when the ODSTs show up it’s always like you have a faceless badass by your side. Their full black suits make it ominous as to who they are, but they don’t need a personal identity to make them special. Since Infinite is kind of going back to halo’s roots in a way, and a good part of Halo’s identity is ODSTs since Halo 2. Every Halo game that has had ODSTs in it make the best missions and the fact it hasn’t been in the previous 2 halo games is really sad.

Along with Marines ODSTs should definitely get their reappearance, though they shouldn’t be just pretty faces (or helmets), they should also bring back the battlefield dialogue.
Maybe even have some specific groups like with Halo Reach which has the bullfrogs appear with their own bits of special dialogue.

Hey guys stop Bucking around with these puns we’re trying to talk serious.

But actually, ODSTs in Infinite would be great. They have a really interesting culture and brotherhood and seeing them again would be great.

I Dare you all to stop making puns. (;
Alright anyways back on topic, if the ODSTs make a return in Infinite, I think they’d be like reinforcements for Master Chief since they lost the battle, Chief is gonna just be alone with his pilot buddy. That’s one of the possible ways. Another way is if Chief and the pilot meet up with one of the UNSC motherships and they drop down with the ODSTs. Since the Covenant beat them, I think how he would meet up with a mothership from the UNSC or the UNSC in general is by a help beacon like in ODST how you tracked down your team by the beacon system.

It would be stupid to not include them 343 should have gotten that by now.

Of corse when megablocks reveal the new set there is one helljumpers set to buy and the I think is inside infinite

I imagine with the ease now of creating Spartans, anyone who qualifies for ODST is probably a Spartan IV or above.

Totally accurate, as far as we’ve seen from postwar Era Halo materials. ODST’s have been made redundant in a universe when soldiers like those that comprise Fireteam Majestic qualify as Spartan IV’s. I’d imagine that ODST’s still technically exist as a branch of the service, but in a dramatically diminished state from what they were in the H/C War.

I think the coolest thing to do would be to have the ODST’s become an autonomous subdivision of the general Spartan IV program. That way we still get our Helljumpers and they make sense in the new lore.

I love ODST’s, especially the Halo Wars 2 art ones, ever since Halo 2, seeing the awesome sight of multiple large objects streaking through the sky has been a must have in most Halo games.

ODST’s are an iconic piece of Halo, I would love to see them in Infinite and even better, have a mission where you are fighting with them, just like Halo 2, except that you can actually control where you land in a specific mission area.

As far as ODST’s being Spartan IV’s, I am very interested in the idea, execution is where I’m worried.

So the bottom line is, Infinite ODST is a goal I hope.

If you’ve played Halo 4 onwards, you’ve basically seen this already. The Spartan IV program was young-but-promising or veteran career soldiers. All were volunteers. I guess there could be some ODST who wouldn’t volunteer, but you’d be hard-pressed to find a career soldier who wouldn’t want to be a Spartan, I imagine.

We need them back. BTW who thought the halo 5 odst helmet look pretty cool?

Just thought I’d clear the air on the misconception that ‘Spartan-IVs = ODSTs being phased out’ or ‘All ODSTs are now Spartan-IVs’. As TriedCrowd418 has already said, there are less than 1,000 Spartan-IVs in service, and still ~50,000(!) ODSTs in service. Only a very small percentile became Spartan-IVs, as other branches are also pulled from when recruiting.

The other notion that ‘Spartans make ODSTs redundant’ reminded me of a Twitter discussion I saw some time ago, and the counter was brought up that the logistics for maintaining Spartan-IVs is much greater than that of ODSTs, and not every operation requires the expertise of a Spartan. Why outfit and maintain something that is overkill in a lot of applications when what’s already available is sufficient?

So, honestly, ODSTs aren’t going anywhere, and I hope we’ll see those crazy SOBs again.
