I recently switched from Bumper Jumper to Helljumper (for obvious reasons for those who know my post history).
My question is a simple one: how to play? I’m a CQB kind of guy and find Charging and Pounding to be a bit more difficult with Helljumper. I am dedicated to this new layout. Can anyone offer me any tips to get back I where I was?
I’m more of a recon guy because my first halo was ODST. I tried normal the other da and found myself meleeing instead of reloading :/. dot see why anyone would mess with the controls.
If you’re a CQB guy I would have definitely stayed with Bumper Jumper. Helljumper is much more friendly to someone playing mid to long range engagements most of the time. So I guess my advice is don’t be so committed. What advantages appealed to you? I’m curious.

The name. That’s it. Some of the buttons were the same, too

I used to be a Recon guy, too. Switched to Bumper Jumper back during Halo 4
As a CQB guy myself, I like Boxer.
I don’t know how Bumper Jumper works, but I don’t like Recon because the melee is so restricted. To melee, you have to move your right thumb away from the joystick onto ‘B’, making it hard to make dynamic melees for moving enemies. I love boxer, because melee is on Left trigger and it makes it even easier to shoot for a while then immediately melee, like SMG combos. Also, I don’t often find myself in a situation where I would need to quickly shoot then grenade, where that splitsecond would matter between moving from trigger to bumper.
Other from the melee-grenade switch, it’s pretty much the same as most defaults. The only thing I would change about it is switching sprint and crouch (left joystick and ‘B’) but that’s probably just because crouching is not something I do very much so I’m not as familiar with it on left joystick.
I made this switch near the beginning of my Halo 5 career, and it has been working great for me. The biggest problem so far is switching between Halo and Destiny.

I could never get into Boxer. Just felt too clunky for me. Also couldn’t get into Destiny.
