'Heavy' Playlist

So, after playing a few games in the recently added ‘Heavy’ playlist, I find it very enjoyable and would like it to be permanent. Heck- it’s even got more players than BTB, which I find impressive.

What are your thoughts?

After playing a few matches I can say that I enjoy it.

Heavies Feedback

Multiple scorpions and wratiths. Many heavy weapons. Add to that Friendly Fire is enabled.

Despite that, I’ve only been betrayed four times (Once on purpose by a sore teamate that started chucking grenades at me after I respawned - the other three times by accident i.e. hijacking a vehicle that someone planted a grenade on a second earlier)
and it has been quite a lot of hectic fun.

I’ve noticed DLC maps coming up waaaaay more in Heavies. Only played 5 matches so far, but 2 have been on Shatter, 2 on Harvest, and 1 on Wreckage.

Sadly, there are no Scorpions or Wraiths on those maps. :frowning:

Just have to get the right map. There’s a Wraith on Outcast (Got that map in my first match of heavies, getting me my last achievement), though I’m not sure about a Scorpion being in the playlist anywhere.

Really glad to see that DLC maps are a common occurrence. I would also like to see this get merged into one of the playlists so that it can be an option when going into the right playlist.

I just hopped on to say literally the same thing… I thought that driver looked dashingly familiar.

Now to add, it feels like Mediums, not Heavies. Wreckage as is seems right but the lack of Wraith on Harvest is disheartening. Shatter can use a Wraith as well. Why? For the same reason the Wraith is on Outcast. The mechanics of the Wraith are great for tight vehicular quarters with mixed in infantry. The splash of the mortar and quick dash of the speed boost prevent the Wraith from being neutered like a Scorpion (about on par with a Mantis).

Haven’t played Longbow so I don’t know the status of tanks on that one but I fear that it and Ragnarok with Scorpion tanks isn’t enough to call the whole thing “Heavies.” With all those Gauss 'Hogs, rocks and splasers spawning around, I don’t feel we need to worry about Mantis vs Tank battles being imbalanced. I’d just like to have them on the map

Harvest needs a Wraith. I played that map and the only vehicles I see are the Hogs and Ghosts. Or a Manti would do. Ither one is fine on that map since they lack a heavier vehicle. Ragnarok has one Manti and Red Team far as I know has it. It should be taken out since you can get commendations for that in BTB. The other vehicles on Ragnarok are fine just the Manti is a problem cause only one team can have it which isn’t fair to Blue Team.

There doesn’t appear to be a Reply or Quick Reply button for me in the Heavies Feedback thread, but my thoughts are pretty much summed up by the post I made earlier.

I rarely played Heavies back in Reach because I was terrible with betrayals, everytime I entered a Wraith someone on our team died (True, some of these involved people trolling the driver by jumping up and standing on the mortar or sprinting/jetpacking into the wraith as you move).
My experience in Halo 4 has been better - only one betrayal so far (Incineration Cannon mishap), but I’ve been betrayed at least once by a rude team mate.

That aside, I haven’t seen any DLC maps show up, but with what Wulfwood said… I might just try Heavies a bit more in the morning in hopes of seeing Shatter or Harvest come up

I also can’t reply to the ‘heavies’ feedback thread. What’s going on?

this playlist is amazing.

i’ve gotten dlc maps FINALLY, in a playlist that isn’t dlc-ONLY. it’s a pleasant surprise on top of the extreme fun from all those vehicles every where.

Easily the best thing to happen to Halo 4 since release.
This playlist had better become permanent or I will type angry comments.

Throw Dominion back into the game (Even as BTB or Throwdown gametypes) as well and I’d be super happy

Heavies was - with the exception of my terrible luck with vehicles in Reach - my favorite gametype in matchmaking after it was introduced. If I wasn’t in Invasion or Rumble Pit, I was in BTB hoping for a Heavies match. Very fun.

Just played it today, and got my first perfection. It’s great for getting commendations for the laser, too, which I otherwise find hard to do.

Perhaps 343 will pay attention to the fact that this gametype is extremely popular and has been in every Halo it is in. That Heavies was not included upon release and took almost a year to introduce is evidence of the disconnect that plagues 343.

If Heavies and (the still yet to be included) Alpha Zombies were to find a permanent home in the Halo 4 playlists, I might actually return to this game.

Almost every game I have played has involved one team losing 2-3 players due to betrayal/booting. These players are not compensated for by JIP usually and it ends up very one sided. Despite this if the teams are full it is very enjoyable. I would have preferred 8v8 though.

Well… better late then never, eh?

I suppose, but if you wait until 95% of the population leaves to put in a really popular gametype, you are setting yourself up for failure.

Well, gotta agree with that. Though I’m sure they’ll do great in XB1
