Heavy and Light armour Halo Reach?

So, I understand where the change is coming from with them changing the Halo reach Male and Female options to heavy and light armour respectively, but is that really necessary? The original intention, as well as the voice accompanying the body types, was meant to be male and female, so is this change absolutely warranted?

I can understand Halo Infinite going for more androgynous body types, as it’s being developed that way, but Halo Reach had a very defined line between the male and female gender types. Swaping the words male and female for heavy and light to me seems like a very nitpicky thing, but it also doesn’t seem like it was an absolute necessary.

What’s everyones thoughts though? I’m also really hoping for more discussion outside of the obvious “it doesn’t effect me” or “343 sjw bs” so I’d like to have a little more higher thought applied to the topic.

I think it’s part of that forward thinking approach to player expression being extended to previous Halo games now. Yeah, seems kinda unnecessary really. I’m not a huge fan of 343 slightly altering the original identity of the old Halo games to fit in modern times, even if it’s in the vain of breathing new life into it. I’m not 100% against it, but I feel like an option to keep things how they originally were in Halo Reach would be a welcome option. I like being able to keep things how they were. They probably wouldn’t do that though, this seems like a change that is gonna stick around into the next season regardless.
