Heavies

I would be willing to bet this discussion has happened before but I would love to see Heavies brought back into Halo 5. For me it was a lot of fun on Halo 4, it’s sort of covered in big team battle and big team super fiesta, but I for one would love to see it in ranked.

Halo 5 should have had Heavies from the beginning. I am still hoping they will add it in the upcoming BTB refresh. However, I am concerned because a couple months ago, Josh/Zaedynfel wrote the following:

You have BTSF in Social, which is clearly a Social playstyle with lots of non-tryhards in there, and then you have BTB in Ranked which, in H5, has always been a more competitive playlist.

Probably a combination of Warzone, H5 Arena being more competitive-focused to begin with, and most of the non-tryhards being in Super Fiesta even before we had BTSF. It just won’t feel Social if the casuals are all in other lists. BTB was the one of the most casual lists in previous games, but now that’s clearly Super Fiesta (again, even before BTSF).

I think what he was saying is that BTB has always been oriented more towards competitive players in Halo 5 for various reasons (and if you look, you’ll see mostly small, cramped almost Slayer-sized maps with not much in the way of power weapons or vehicles besides a Warthog+Ghost), so therefore the BTB refresh can cater more towards to competitive crowd and putting it in ranked, while the non-competitive casual players can have their Big Team Super Fiesta.

In other words, I am concerned they won’t add Heavies in the BTB refresh because they wouldn’t want it to spread the population of casual players between Big Team Super Fiesta and Heavies. However this feels like a mistake to me because personally I find Heavies much more fun than Big Team Super Fiesta. I asked Josh for clarification on the matter but he didn’t respond to my question

I wouldn’t be surprised if Heavies gets added as an map/gametype option to the normal BTB playlist, rather than creating an entire new playlist for it.

I was thinking about that as well. But it doesn’t seem like that from Josh’s comment that I quoted, since he’s talking about how Halo 5’s BTB has always been more competitive, and Heavies seems more like a casual thing to me. Though I hope you are right and they at least add it to the normal BTB playlist, like it was in Halo Reach.

NGL I haven’t read the other comments regarding ranked btb in this thread, but I would like to see heavies return. The thing is that if btb was ranked, a big issue has always been that there is so much salt in btb, betrayals for sniper and stuff like that. In ranked it would be so much more infuriating.
