Heatwave projectiles doesn't matter

so one thing I have noticed after playing Halo Infinite for two weeks now, is that the projectiles are individually, irrelevant.
What I mean by this is that, since launch I played with the Heatwave shooting vertically, as it gave you more accurate projectile spread and had a higher chance of landing all of them on your opponent.
Lately however, I have started using it horizontally, so that I can more quickly land shots without having to move my reticle too much, and what I have found is that it takes the exact same amount of shots to down an opponent regardless of whether you hit all projectiles when shooting vertically, or you just land 2-3 when shooting horizontally.

Not sure if this is intended or not, maybe I’ve just missed most of my shots when shooting vertically, either way it’s odd

Hmm, this doesn’t sound right… I haven’t done extensive testing myself, but I can’t imagine this is true.

I use the Heatwave a lot, so it would be odd if I just happened to get the same STK regardless of ‘‘weapon orientation’’, but again, I could have just missed shots when shooting vertically, it’s not like my targets have been standing still for me.

speaking off… I can just test this in the weapon range, that way I will have targets that literally are standing still for me

I do know the vertical shots take 3 shots to kill someone at least, not sure on horizontal but I’m pretty sure it’s more unless all the shots hit.

I’m curious of your outcomes in test mode since I’ve been figuring the same.

In the flight you could actually one shot kill someone with the vertical mode and that isn’t possible anymore, the horizontal damage seems the same on most ranges although you technically miss more bullets from the spread (I’ve actually been killed by the heatwave from a range which I figured the damage wouldn’t matter).

Hope vertical still has some function a part from using it for bankshotting walls

Sounds like a job for:

What you should actually do is go for bank shots. If you shoot the ground right in front of an enemy, all the shots will lock on and just go right for the enemy, making a two shot very easy.

Aozolai covered this recently. The Heatwave is absolutely busted if you aim at the ground instead of your enemy.

@mstrex20 Nah, give it a shot in the weapon drills mode.

That’s only special variant of the Heatwave that Aozolai covered in his recent video. Although the two weapons share the same name [Heatwave] for whatsoever reason, one of those variants is identified by a gray paint job whilst the other special variant is identified by the white paint job, again, the one which Aozolai covered in that video.

The regular Heatwave (the gray one you get in MP) does not home in on targets at all after ricochets.

Oh. Huh. Well that’s dumb.
