This has been an issue for me since the launch of this game. Every fire fight I get into usually goes like this:
- I get the drop on the enemy.
- I fire first.
- I die.
This happens almost every match in every gametype except for Warzone. I’ll pop the enemy shields but I’ll get hitmarkers when going for the headshot. By the they start firing, I’m dead almost instantly. Sometimes, this will happen even when we are using ARs against each other.
After examining replays, on my screen it shows me shooting slightly behind the enemy instead of center mass. Is this some sort of lag compensation or really -Yoink- connection I’m playing against? Because of this issue, playing TDM or any game mode where precision shots are required is a nightmare unless I miraculously pull host. Warzone is the only exception, however.
Has anyone ran into this problem?
First off, it’s a dedicated server so there is nobody with host.
Secondly, the game is actually quite forgiving of headshots, so I would imagine you are experiencing some kind of ISP lag or controller input delay.
If you go into a custom game, you can actually see how forgiving the game is of headshots. Your reticle doesn’t even have to be touching their head and it will give you a headshot every time.

what i have noticed is that the hitboxes vary, for example pulling headshot with a sniper is too easy. and sometimes not.
It’s hard for me to see it as input delay when on my screen, all my shots are dead on. As for ISP, my download speed is around 90 Mb/s with an upload speed of 13 Mb/s. How the hell am I getting ISP lag when I’m faster than 80% of the US?
I just don’t understand it. It feels like MW3 all over again.

Yeah, you have way good internet so it can’t be that. I have the same problem as you though. I’ve been losing most of my engagements lately, even when I do get the first shot. Oh well, C’est la vie.
