Hoping to find a quality headset around 100 dollars… Anybody have an opinion on the Turtle Beach XO4’s or the XO7’s and how they compare to each other?
I’m still using my Turtle Beach X12’s that I’ve been using on my Xbox 360 for years. Just bought a headset adapter and works like a charm.
The only real differences between mid-range headsets to high-end headsets is the surround sound functionality. But since the Xbox One doesn’t support surround sound through headsets, it’s pretty much a waste to spend anything more than $100 on a headset for the Xbox One.
I did try on a pair of the XO Seven’s at a display once. Memory foam pads are to die for. Felt soooo good.
Also, I never go wireless. I’ve had bad experiences with wireless headsets. Battery draining fast, constant recharging, weird snowy/white noise intermittently… wires are more reliable in that situation, in my opinion.

I didnt realize XB1 didnt support surround sound for headsets… Is this something they have talked about implementing in the future?
I don’t even know if it’s possible, actually. The way the new headsets work are that they are minimally wireless. There is only 1 cord on the entire thing, and that is the cable from the headset itself to the adapter puck on the controller. The sound of voice/party chat AND the in-game audio are being sent to the controller through a wireless band signal. They can only get Stereo audio to travel through the broadcast from the console to the controller. 5.1 and 7.1 Surround has too many channels that can’t be sent and received properly through the signal.

Yeah that’s one option but if you are wanting surround sound you have to go with a headset thats capable of optical in. The Xbox will send surround through an optical connection. The controller connection was mainly meant for chat, even though they did implement at least stereo game audio.
I use my turtle beach x12s
