It would be awesome to see different HUDs in the multiplayer. it could be done through 3 options:
1- HUD changes based upon helmet being used
2- HUD design can be selected by players
3- default HUD, but color based on visor color
which of these options would you prefer.
I really liked Lindas HUD from the Halo 5 campaign, I would like to see a similar HUD again.
i think it would be cool to be helmet based but then again you may just have people wearing only a certain type of helmet for the type of display they want.
maybe if you gave the first 2 options and if you didnt like the the default of the helmet you can change it. i wouldnt mind putting on a helmet and seeing the changed display with each but would never want to feel like i was stuck wearing a helmet due to the display.

I didn’t think about that, a work around might be the Hud would be faint so it can be easily over looked but still noticeable
I like the last 2 options but the first 1 seems like a bunch of unnecessary work for 343 designers seeing as how they like filling up the game with a hundred different helmet options. plus I’d hate to have a helmet that looks really awesome only for the hud to look stupid and vice versa. customization feels like the best way to go.

yeah, personally I prefer option 2 myself
Just take them all! There may be oncoming advantages and disadvantages expected though
How cool would it be if players were able to design their own HUD using some sort of app on windows 10. You could mix and match different HUD elements from past games or you could start from scratch to create your very own unique HUD. You could then upload your design to the content browser and people could download them to use
I think different types could work with some helmets like EVA, Mark helmets and such but some helmets would rather much limit the visibility and some helmets dont seem to have visor at all or visor on one side of the face. Both would impair vision, latter mostly just by depth.
So could work with some helmets but its not that high on the list of things to develop for me. It could also cause some inbalances with some helmets possibly impairing vision at least partially if there are H4/H5g designs. Also some Halo: Reach designs like gungnir.
As for the color, not really, the color should only be the shading that is seen from the outside.
Then selectable, maybe to some extent like color of the shield, ammo and such meters and other little things. Though again, not too high on the list.
I would like it if each helmet had a different HUD and you could choose the colour, not based on visor. I would also like it if you could choose a default visor though.

I didn’t think about making the Hud color customization separate from the visor, thanks for the idea

Figured there would be people who like a certain visor colour but not necessarily want to see that on the inside, would be nice to have the option to customize that separately.
The more customization, the better, in my eyes. Whatever 343 is able to offer the player, including customizable HUDs, is a bonus and probably should be added in order to up the replay value of Infinite.
Don’t take this the wrong way, but I don’t really care. I want them to focus on more important aspects of the game. They can tack HUD customisation on that the end if they like. I don’t think it would be realistic to expect them to design a different HUD for every helmet variant.
Glad someone brought this up.
I’d like to have a customisable HUD with a colour dependent on the visor worn. The colour part isn’t hard because diffusion textures are a thing, customisable HUD would be the hardest part I believe.
If not customisable, a preset look depending on the helmet would be nice as well
Okay. I’m going to give in to the thread.
What if the customisation goes as far as allowing us to change the colour, size and position of each individual element of the HUD?
Don’t want the Energy Shield gauge in the top centre? Just select it and drag it down to the bottom right. Maybe you want to rotate it vertically instead of horizontally? Go ahead and do that. Not happy with the rectangular shape of the gauge? Just change it to a more rounded one, or maybe a long pointed triangular shape, or maybe that ‘L’ from Combat Evolved. Where would you like your Motion Tracker? Bottom left? Middle right? Somewhere at the top? Your choice! Do you want it to be blue, green, yellow, pink? It’s up to you! Etc. Etc.
I first thought about this back when I used to play PlanetSide 2 and the HUD changed slightly with a couple of the updates. I thought, “What if we could just do that ourselves?” Well, why not? As long as it doesn’t effect the rest of the game in any way, give us a default HUD (and maybe some other set HUDs to choose from) that can be reverted to if we screw ours up, and let us customize it as much as we want. Fallout, for example, has some HUD customization. Let’s take it even further. Full customisable heads-up-displays; I’m down with that.
Games like UT, Deus Ex, DE invisible War and Half Life 2 already did it ages ago - sometimes even on the OG XBox. You can change size, color, position of single elements, transparency, fading time, left or right handed guns on screen, if you want a gun at all on screen and cross-hairs. A few games on PC still allow similar options, never saw that again on consoles though and it feels like a missed opportunity.
100% agree! I’d love some customizable HUD elements. More customization never hurts. Maybe, layout, color, different components?
