Headless Spartans

I recently became aware of the fact that a part of the halo 4 population have been modding their Spartans to appear headless. From what I’ve read, the changes are purely Asthetic, so why is Microsoft using the ban-hammer with such vigor?

It is not purely aesthetic and it affects the hitbox. It’s a mod, and doesn’t belong in Matchmaking.

Oh really? I’ve never seen them. Sounds cool.

Oh, I didn’t know that. Thanks!

First, it’s not purely aesthetic, it changes the hitbox.

And even if it WAS (were?) purely aesthetic…think about it, trying to shoot the head when you can SEE it is hard enough with the amount of lag (switching and actual) present, let alone if you can’t see their head.

It’s unfortunate, because they are banning for any armor piece being removed, not just the head. If removing the head was never an option, they probably would have let the other pieces slide since they were just aesthetic. The head however does lose it’s hitbox.

Its a mod, people who mod get banned, people who mod to shed their armor and become naked and headless get permanently banned, dont see why it is so hard to understand.

It is a cheat, and the Xbox Live terms of service already explain that cheating is not allowed no matter what form it is done in, use modded equipment and you will be banned as well.

Microsoft is using the banhammer with vigor because it is against the terms of service you agreed to when you signed up for Xbox Live. You are not allowed to create and exploit in-game mods.
Here is a quote directly from Microsoft replying to one of the many:

"Your account was suspended for engaging in cheating. Please refer to the Code of Conduct, specifically the following sections:

  • Don’t cheat in a game
  • Don’t modify or hack game content to create cheats
  • Don’t make unauthorized modifications to your account profile or its contents
  • Don’t intentionally play with someone who is using unauthorized software or methods to help inflate your game rank or gamerscore"

That’s not cheating, that’s a gametype bug. The person doing it had no choice in the matter, they appear on a glitched team (usually because of join in progress).
