I am really really looking forward to the upcoming Head to Head playlist. And I very much hope it is not rotational.
Does anyone know if it has been confirmed as rotational or permanent when it was brought up in the past?

It hasn’t been mentioned if it will be permanent or not, but it’s likely going to depend on its popularity over time.
No confirmation as of yet, but if it is popular enough I would imagine they would make it permanent. I’m also very excited for this, good way to train for intense 1 v 1 battles
This playlist sounds great.
Does anyone have a link to the source? 343 actually mentioned this playlist was in the works?

Here you go:
Funny, I was going to make a topic on this but wasn’t sure if it should be here or if matchmaking forms suited it more, but anyways…
I’ll be honest here, i think this playlist is a big waste of time. I’m not bashing here, but this to me is a other example for 343I not listening to the majority of there fanbase, as I feel many people would much rather 343I continue to work on things like weapon tuning (I know it’s not happening…) balancing existing maps, making more maps (even if it’s forge ones) or maybe the most important thing, fixing some of these ridiculous bugs!!! that are still in this game, like black screen BTB or someone home screens in the BTB playlist matchmaking and it never finds a other player so everyone is forced to and so on (there are quite a few big ones out there as we know) that people have been complaining about forever!
Halo is a team game. Majority (key word here) of people play it for that aspect. If they want to play solo they would play something else or go into customs or better yet customs browser that they have now which is pretty amazing I must say. Is there REALLY that much demand for a 1vs1 playlist??? I guess there is because they’re doing it, but man I just don’t see from where. I consider myself a regular here on waypoint and in every major Halo game too (been playing since CE) and I’ve barely heard anyone talk about wanting this. Have I heard people say they would? Sure, no doubt but never to the point that I thought it warranted its own playlist. I always found when someone wants to 1v1 someone (usually people who think they’re “the man” and are toxic players I find but not always) you just went into customs and did your thing. Done and done. Lots of people have made small 1v1 maps for this even. I always thought this was perfect and ideal.
Personally, I would much rather of 343I have spend this time doing other things in Halo 5 or at the very least fixing other playlists that you know people want/play and have been asking for for ages!!! (I know doubles and BTB are happening, finally!!!)
I’m sorry, but I just can’t see this being a big thing, I really can’t. I may be wrong here obviously and if I am I’ll gladly admit it. Not to mention, I can see this being a super toxic playlist. I guess time will tell how well this does.

I can see your perspective and I respect it, but I disagree.
Yes the majority of Halo is a team-based game, but we’ve always had some form of Rumble Pit too. I love FFA. I don’t know about you, but I dislike losing matches based on the weight of my teammate’s deaths. Now to circumvent this I would normally play FFA as I’ve always done in previous Halo games, but Halo 5’s advance movement allows extremely fast traversal of the maps. A player is so fast that I rarely will be able to finish one fight without another Spartan come charging in to clean me up. This is why I am excited for Head to Head.
I can reliably win 1v1 battles, but I am not able to always beat the next opponent when I’m starting the fight at 25% shields. I think the Head to Head playlist will be great for me as I work towards completing the Targetmaster commendation.
Besides the allocation of resources from 343i you disagree with, do you have any other concerns? I would be curious as you don’t have to queue for it. On top of that, it will likely have a smaller population not only due to the majority of players wanting a team to play with, but also 1 player can queue at a time as opposed to say 4 for a game of Team Slayer.

Allocation of resources is a pretty big reason, it’s funny that you tried to dismiss it by asking for other reasons. I completely agree with Deadend’s assessment.

I wasn’t trying to dismiss, just come up with other reasons to also add weight to the point.
Allocation of resources is plenty reason enough if that’s your criticism. I apologize if you felt I was dismissing the criticism. I would also like them to revisit weapon balance, but my excitement for 1v1 outweighs that.
My biggest concern would be the maps. If we use the existing maps, this playlist will be reduced to a cat-and-mouse roundabout spanning the duration of the match.

I had the same thoughts, but I imagine such a playlist would be given the Community Doubles treatment with all new community-made maps that are much smaller than what we have.

In Halo 3, the leader would be given an icon over their head. I wonder if we’ll get something similar for this.
What about 1v1 super fiesta?
To be fair though, I would LOVE to have a 1v1 Octogon in matchmaking.
That would be the ultimate warm-up playlist!

Actually… If they stick with the current maps used for breakout and increase the range of the radar to that of the Spartan ability (sensor) in Warzone 1v1 would be epic. Would love to test my medal 1v1 on some of the sore losers who have messaged me recently on game just to prove who REALLY is the better player

I’d be for this because it’d be a nice way to earn XP rather than jumping in a custom Octogon game in the browser to warm up.
I would prefer an octagon playlist rather than 1v1ing on maps that clearly aren’t designed at all for 1v1.

Great idea i love it
A 1v1 playlist sounds great. I’ve wanted this ever since it was introduced to MCC in the Match Composer. Honestly I think a match composer in H5 would be a great idea.
The one advantage 1v1 would have over every other playlist is it’d be the one playlist that wouldn’t be ruined by rampant quitting.
