In fear of looking dumb, I have to ask this question as it has been bugging me the past couple days. Halo 5 is 60FPS. MCC is also 60fps from my understanding even though Bungie pushed the whole 60FPS for Halo 5 like it was the first 60fps Halo (one 60FPS supports split, one doesn’t?). My question is this though:
I was reading about HDMI 2.0 cables, and it says they can support 60fps where as 1.4 only supports 24 and 30 at most (depending on resolution). So does this mean that even with a brand new, non-4k, TV Halo 5 would look better with the HDMI 2.0 cable? I read it, and it sounds like it only matters what the hardware is. On the other hand, from reading that HDMI 1.4 doesn’t transfer more than 30 FPS it makes me think that the HDMI 2.0 cable is needed for optimal video from the Xbox One.
My recollection is that it isn’t really the cable that matters, it’s the jacks on the devices at either end. Buy the cheapest cable you can find and as long as your TV can do 60fps then you’ll be fine.
1.4 has less bandwith, so if you want 60fps at 4k you would need a 2.0. At 1080p I think 1.4 is fine. Im not positive though just get a 2.0 they are so cheap anyway.

Close, but the version of the cable does matter for some features (although not typically 1080p60 like you said)
An hdmi 2.0 cable is required for HDMI 2.0 features (4k 60hz, etc.). Whether it is a $6 hdmi 2.0 Monoprice cable or $85 hdmi 2.0 MonsterCable makes no difference.
For 1080p 60fps halo, almost any hdmi cable will work. Technically you can find an hdmi 1.0 cable that will work and an hdmi 1.3 cat1 that won’t, but I wouldn’t worry until you get a 4k TV.
Ah ok. Thanks guys! I knew it was mandatory for the 4K due to the transfer speed requirements and all that, but I everything I read made it sound like it could possibly make my Xbox One games look better too.

He is either in denial of 343i being in control or he has been living under a rock for the past 4 years
