HCS should be its own game

A lot of the game is based around HCS. The maps. The modes. Even the gameplay. BUT on the other hand it’s supposed to be a casual game too. I think HCS as too much influence over how the game is run. I think this mix and match causal and competitive ends up hurting us all in the long run because it leaves us wanting more from each side.

If you really look at it. Ranked arena is the only thing that’s out for HCS. Sure we need more ranked modes but over all the competitive experience is really small. I think HCS could have it’s own game and players won’t miss it in the bigger game.

People claim that the pros and competitive are in the minority so why not make a base game for the majority and a speical spin off game for the competitive crowd?

How I would do it.

I would call it.

Halo: champions

It would feature an advanced form of Halo 5 movement. It would use the thrust, stabilize, and the ground pound and spartan charge would turn into movement abilites instead of melee ones.

The no Regen shield feature would come back.

Faster Sprint. No hit markers. No grenade markers. No power up and power weapon pads. Collision. No outlines. No bloom.

It would be centered around single shot weapons.

Maps would be specifically made for this game.

It would have all the ranked modes any one could desire.

Ranked 1v1
Ranked 2v2
Ranked 4v4
Ranked swat
Ranked FFA

Players won’t be forced to play on maps made for HCS. Players won’t be forced to play with gameplay mechanics that are ment for comepetive.

Competitive people won’t be forced to play with features they don’t like. For example bloom. We could finally get a game without all the balancing nonsense that goes on with the weapons.

hcs hasn’t attracted any positive attention lmao. 343 keeps trying to pander to esports players who mainly play COD despite the fact that Halo MLG hasn’t been popular since 3 and Activision hosts multi-hundred thousand dollar tournaments all the time.

hcs should just be dumped its just a colossal waste of time.

The problem isn’t really HCS tho. It’s competitive players. A lot of people love to play comepetively and I think there should be a game for them to sink their teeth into. On top of that all of the pros and HCS talk can be put into the HCS game. We would never have to hear about it again in the main Halo game.

Or they could just introduce new game modes, playlists, and options for players who would prefer something like this rather than create an entirely new game around pretty simple changes.

HCS players will always gravitate towards a single playlist, the most competitive one. Don’t really see the need for a full game.

The fact so many of the maps are in HCS and they’ve not had to completely gut the weapon pool is a testament to how well made Infinite is as a casual and competitive game.

I’m really looking forward to the first official new maps getting dropped. I’m sure at least one of them will be very HCS focused.

New game modes and playlists are cool and all but what about the maps? It’s pretty clear that the maps are HCS based. Some claim that this game isn’t social enough and it think it has a lot to do with maps. There should at the very least be dedicated maps for HCS

I think we will see a huge variety of maps for more casual gametypes and modes when Forge drops. Stuff like Castle Wars and giant BTB super fiesta maps will appear.

The thing with casual aimed maps is the hardcore players always end up developing a meta. Having to play the likes of Orbital or High Ground was evidence of that.

If a Halo game were designed from the ground up with Esports in mind its popularity would crush Infinite, Infinite is already hard carried by HCS/competitive scene so I can’t imagine Infinite surviving very long without them.

Second what @Ken_CTF says.

On top of that, there are plenty of purely competitive style Halo maps that have made it into play. I truly believe this view you hold of Infinite’s maps is a perception thing more than it is an objective one. You can have just as much of a head to head all out brawl on Halo 3’s Citadel in a highly competitive mindset as you can have fun in a more casual “play a few games after work” mindset on the same map.

One could even argue that competition has been at the core of Halo’s multiplayer since CE, why else would you go toe to toe with your friends?

Interesting you say that. Someone above said it was a waste. It’ll be crazier to think that it would be more popular

Citadel is legitimately one of my favourite maps in the whole of Halo 3 for high ranked competitive play.

Have you watched twitch? Literally 95% of the viewership is either on pros or semi-pros.

Now twitch is not necessarily too relevant in terms of how many people play a game, but it is telling.

We did have a game that basically had none of the things you mentioned, it was called Halo 4, easily the least successful Halo game ever made (in terms of popularity, interest, sales, etc.) so I would seriously question how much interest this game would get if not for competitive play.

Its like imaging a world where CS:GO didn’t have a comp scene, hard to imagine it being remotely as popular.

Yeah I guess your right. I mean. This only helps my argument. HCS is popular. It’s not like it would be a bad idea to have a game just for HCS.

Also I find it funny that Halo 4 is the Halo we all hate. No matter who it is they will say it’s bad. Lol. Some like it. I like the story. But man the multiplayer was just atrocious

You had me until Ranked SWAT. 1v1, 2v2, 4v4 and FFA, YES! I can see where you’re trying to go with this.

lol swat is ranked since always. don’t tell me you are another person who think ranked should only be hard.

swat deserve to be ranked.

I don’t think it should only be hard. I think there should be a ranked swat

i was replying to rip lazy. i want team swat ranked too.

The good thing about ranked SWAT is that all the cheaters would finally have a playlist to call their own.

well, we got that with halo 5 and umm we all saw how that turned out

Explain to me how Warzone and Campaign are Esports focused. That was like what they spent 3/4 of their time on creating.

We have never had a Halo game that was made for Esports in mind. Halo 5 was probably the most tilted towards that we’ve seen, but the vast majority of its game was designed for casual play.
