HCS Packs not even Availible for REQ Points

Last season, you could spend ten dollars on a pack, or you could spend 80,000 REQ points. 80,000 was a ridiculous amount (at least for the time), but at the very least they made the items obtainable in game. Now, you have to fork over real money, lest you wish your REQ collection to go incomplete. This is absurd, if you ask me. I know people are going to say “you don’t have to buy them,” but the fact that an in game item is locked behind a paywall is quite ridiculous. The only armor set I do not have is the Athlon Champion, and now I’ll never have it, and now, I can add these brand new weapon skins to the list!

That’s because they’re weapon skins for outside organizations which get a part of the profits.

343i and Microsoft just want your money.

It’s only a way to show your support for the HCS and the specific teams. The point of those is to generate money. It would make no sense for those to cost req points. For the most part, there have been no reqs that can’t be obtained without money.

Tell me one company who doesn’t.

Well I imagine it’s because CLG, OG, and EG don’t want to be paid in req points.

He’s a month late to the party, since you can now purchase in game instead of just though Xbox.com or game add on in the Xbox store on console. So today everyone is seeing them in game.

I can tell you Bungie didn’t add in microtransactions in Halo to squeeze as much money as possible from the game. They cared about Halo and most people saw this. Microsoft is keeping Halo alive for profit. Bungie only offered quality DLC maps for a price. Too bad Bungie went downhill after Halo.
Or I can say companies like Bethesda game studios are a lot more passionate about their games than 343i. But, it’s true that game companies have been going downhill lately.

You seem to not understand that 343i has as much say in these things as Bungie did. The only reason that Halo 3/Reach didn’t have microtransactions was because they weren’t really a “thing” yet. Microsoft had just as much control over Halo 3 as they do over Halo 5.

You can’t blame everything on the developers, especially when those developers are owned and controlled by the publishers.

Which eventually was repackaged in Halo 3 ODST, which was also against their will, like a lot of things 343i did. That was definitely met with some criticism

If microtransactions give you a lot more money, why, as a company, would you not do that?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA GOOD ONE THERE!

These are special packs to benefit each specific team… what would they do with req points?

Hahaha that is hilarious they still sold dlc content just to get your money… there is literally no difference in the selling of map packs or req packs. In fact the req pack system is a bit better in its optional whether you want to buy them or not. There is zero game changing content behind a pay wall… destiny made by bungie has exactly that so let’s not act as if bungie wasn’t it isn’t interested in making money.

Bad examples for a good point.

Fallout is a single player game so it’s not like refusing to buy the DLC takes away from the overall experience, just enhances it and adds more replayability. All it does is make you be weary of spoilers if you ever plan on getting or are interested in the DLC.
Destiny is an MMO and that means expansions are bound to happen and if you don’t upgrade, you get left behind like with what happened back with TTK. WoW does this and plenty of other MMOs do it.

Does that mean paid DLC is good? No, not quite but, Destiny and Fallout’s approach to paid DLC is different than Halo’s because they are three different types of games.

Halo and other shooters like it have paid DLC that separate the community and all the other issues everyone is used to hearing on here by now. While not as necessary as Destiny and MMOs, they still cause many more problems because if you play any MMO, the chances are you are planning to be invested in it for the next few years. or more Shooters? They last a few years, next installment comes out and you move on. But in those years, be it one or four, shooters need to retain the playerbase so they release post-launch content. There’s two ways to approach it:

  • Making it free means everyone gets access to it and gives companies an excuse to add microtransacitons, whether they are positive or negative depends on implementation and the game, Halo 5 does it right while a game like say every mobile game ever does it wrong. In the end, they will make a ton of money.
  • Making it paid means certain people have it, certain don’t, and a bunch of problems pop up for both sides that again I am not going to repeat. They may make money, but in the end it creates more problems for the game and it’s community than it does make money.

Every company wants money. That’s how the world works.

No it didn’t.

Had to check the date of this thread to make sure it wasn’t a necropost. OP the packs were created to raise money for the three pro teams.

The req points would help them with their gold grind. /s
