Anyone know why oddball HCS is coming up so frequently in Team Arena? Out of all the players I met today, nobody actually liked this game mode, and fissure is probably the worst map ever made.
Second, why am I matching so many Spanish speaking players? I don’t think I need to explain how this is bad for not only team play but connection health…
It might be weighted more heavily in the rotation or you could just be getting some bad luck.
You’re likely getting a server that’s used for multiple countries. It’s not necessarily bad for the connection since you all could be near that server. If you want the ones nearest to you, be sure to search on focused.
Why do people always hate on new maps and new gametypes? It’s a welcome change for me. Especially since I’m not a huge fan of the default maps.
This happens to me a lot. I’m in CA, but notice quite often I match people who don’t speak english. I mean…of course there’s bilingual people all over the states…but when spartans are teleporting like goku everywhere on the screen and all I hear is spanish being yelled…I’m quite sure it’s a bad connection to someone outa state. Plus I talk and all I hear is the words “no ingles”.
I used to lived in the san diego areas but in a city close to the border. So I encountered that naturally. Now that I’ve moved like 3 hours away in the LA areas…I can tell when it’s people from mexico vs spanish speakers within the states. People in the states for the most part have reliable connections.
Meanwhile in mexico, their xbox Juan is connected via ethernet cable to a burrito with an antenna sticking outa it.
Relax. Just joking about that last part lol. I can speak some spanish, but unfortunately not enough to play with those players. (I’m a mixed race guy. Hope the joke didn’t cross any lines.)

I’m not “hating” on the gametype, even though I think it’s trash. I’m bringing attention to the fact that I’m playing this particular map and gametype disproportionately more than any other gametype or map. That’s an issue.

So what -Yoink- it’s probably your Walmart connection I play with people from Mexico never lagg
I think the reason Oddball comes up more often than CTF and Strongholds is the same reason Slayer comes up so often: the mode is compatible with every map. For example, The Rig is obviously a bad map to play CTF on, and Truth is a bad map to play Strongholds on, so those combinations are not made an option when the game chooses what to play. However, Slayer and Oddball are compatible with every map, so they can be played on Truth AND The Rig. This gives Slayer and Oddball more maps to play on, meaning each mode gets a higher chance of appearing in comparison to CTF and Strongholds. But that’s just a theory.
