HCS drops/view time

Been watching for over the hour and no drops.

Thought I’d ask. Is it a situation where it needs to be on screen for a full hour or can I have it on in the background to get the drops.

Anyone have experience in getting these drops that wanna tell me the details so I can do this right?

Side note: watching these is actually pretty exciting and educational. I’m learning some stuff I can’t wait ti try out.

I don’t even see their streams online yet. I’m wondering if you aren’t watching it, lol

Schedule shows it starts at 11:30 AM PT, so still got a while, if that is correct

First thing make sure you link your Twitch to your account on Waypoint in the settings top right. Then on Twitch you can check out all the drops on Twitch across all games. Find Halo, click on it and it will tell you eligible channels/when to watch. I think sometimes you have to watch between a certain time frame. Before some drops only counted if you watched during grand finals after a certain point on the Sunday. I haven’t checked this one yet, but will later when I’m home. Noticed someone else say it started at 3PM EST (about 4 hours) but can’t confirm that (maybe someone else can). Don’t think this one has officially started yet, try again in 4 hours. You can see your progress bar in drops so you can tell if your version of background watching is counting. I usually just get it up on my phone if I’m not watching or TV if I am watching.

Hope you enjoy the event. I really enjoy watching the HCS tournaments. Let’s go Optic!

Just leave Twitch open for at least an hour and you’ll get a message saying that you’ve received the drop. Also, ensure that you have drops enabled on Twitch. I earned the drop from the first tournament and it was really straight forward. Good luck and enjoy the drop! :baguette_bread:

I believe though it’s got to be during a specific time. I could be wrong though. I would go back and reread or google it to find out. [quote=“SepticonWarrior, post:2, topic:501507, full:true”]

From my understanding, there are 3 drops:
Weapon coatings => watch 1 hr any time
Emblem / Nameplate => watch 1 hr of partnered stream any time
Victory stance => watch 1 hr of grand finals

here is one source: https://dotesports.com/halo/news/halo-developer-reveals-twitch-drops-for-watching-hcs-anaheim

It may also depend on if they enable the drops, which last time they did pretty early in the streams.

For what i understood the weapon coatings are not 1 hour any time, but 1, 2 and 3 hours anytime. There are 3 weaponcoatings (BR, AR, SK) and you need to watch 3 hours and after each hour 1 coating will unlock.

I wanted to watch hcs but i cant support what 343 is doing with SR152 Skin putting it for free. And about the claiming the items. put a timer i would say it basically gives u at the exact time so u would have to claim it at that moment.

You’re right. It shows it in the link I sourced.

Thanks for the info. Really digging that Dubs check em stance XD Gonna have to watch on Saturday I guess.

I will be “watching” aka open a tab and minimize. There ya go 343, one more view bot for ya to pretend like this game is relevant.

AS AN FYI TO EVERYONE WHO WANTS THE GRAND FINALS DROP

If you don’t unlock the first coating for “watch 1hr anytime” before the grand finals, this will unlock FIRST, and then you have to watch a second hour of the grand finals to get the victory stance coating.

And I don’t think the grand finals usually has a run time of >2hrs, since it’s just one best of 7 series.

Spread the word so Spartans who want the victory stance don’t get the short stick!!

Edit: This is how it worked for Raleigh, tbf they could have changed it since then

The HCS production quality for Raleigh was really good imo. Uppity might actually enjoy the stream if you watch the later series.

Their casting squad is pretty darn good this year too

This is helpful. I was watching the Unsigned talent vs Sentinel rounds, which is why I thought I was on it, but I guess not.

Also, it says it starts today from 3am on the the 14th, so I figured I could start early.

I’d rather not watch the slow turning, aim assisted game play of these “pro” matches. Want to play with controller casually? Fine. Want to play with your controller competitively? LOL ya, no, you’re a laughing stock of competitive gaming.

Yeah, I’m embarrassed. I’m watching a stream from 2 months ago

Still Sentinel is pretty slick. I’m looking forward to these new matches.

Oh yea, you’re the person who likes to take a dump on console players because you still think anyone cares about PC vs Console. I guess just stay in your world with blinders on where gamers should down talk each other because of where they play I guess.

The rest of us will be in modern times where people judge players based on skill against opponents in similar settings, not just on input devices

Right, right, got ya.

Just to let everyone know, watching the HCS stream apparently doesn’t count toward your drops.

I switched over to the Halo official stream and I’m making progress. https://www.twitch.tv/halo

Do you have to finish one to start the chalice? Not getting any progress from the costream. I’m on Sidekick right now but the main one I want is the nameplate. Love it.
