What do you think about having the choice to choose maps before the match starts?
I’ve been playing the MCC off and on, and noticed that the same maps especially in big team battle come up way too many times that it has gotten boring. There is a huge list but many of maps are not being used especially the Halo Reach maps. I can’t count how many times Ridgeline has popped up that it’s ridiculous, as if there are no other maps.
There should be the option during each match for the first map to be vetoed (if the majority of players choose to do so).
If that map is vetoed, the second map in the rotation should be mandatory.
With every Halo game, 1 or 2 maps become the community favorites and if you can freely choose the map every match…only those few favorites will ever get chosen.
Players also need to learn to play maps that aren’t their favorites.
Yep, this was an old problem way back in the day with Halo 2, and Bungie tried to improve it with a map veto system in Halo 3, then improve it more with a simple voting system with a few map/gametype pair options before the each match in Reach. There are actually drawbacks to any of these systems, it’s not as easy a problem to solve as it may seem. But personally I do think the Reach voting system was perhaps the best one.

I definitely disagree. Map voting was horrible!! It just lead to the same map and/or game type, time…and time…and time again. I can’t even emphasize how bad it is. It honestly made me not want to play the game as I was beyond tired of getting the same map all the time. I can recall lots of time where I would literally get the same map back to back and even 3,4 and even 5 times in a row!! And I’m not exaggerating!
The current system in Halo 5 is fine. VERY rarely do I play the same map back to back games. The only other good system is the veto system from Halo 3.
If voting like Reach came back for Infinite, get ready for a pile of negative posts and comments on here and social media by A LOT of fans (I’ll be one of them) as I know the majority do not like map voting.
Well, any choice based system in regard of maps is fine by me, it works to satisfy majority of players while working as a direct form of feedback to be utilized as a future reference for map designs.
And whether I will be in the majority is irrelevant in that opinion of mine, let the people choose.
I prefer a randomized system because as soon as you let people choose or vote, the same maps are played over and over. I don’t play MCC but I’ve heard from several people that this is the case anyway even with the “random” system so this should be looked at. But yeah, in theory I like random more because then everything should be played relatively equally.

I agree that players need to learn not to just pick favorites. I still play Halo Reach and that is an issue to where the same maps are picked. Although, if the map rotation wasn’t the same maps popping up and only being able to pick a map once? It could change things up to where we’re not just picking favorites maps all the time.

The Reach system was an issue because a lot of the time even if it was voted for none and the next set of maps would pop up? The same maps with new loadouts or game mode would pop up leaving no real option.

I like soo much the idea to vote the multiplayer map but on the current version of the MCC there isn’t any option
My main problem with a system like this is that it allows the game to become really repetitive. I remember times when H3 became round after round after round of BR only MLG stuff. Or Sandbox every.single.time. Cool for some people I guess but I’d rather have some variety. So ideally such a system should be more like Reach and only suggest maps, not (sub)game types.

It would be nice to have that option. Also if 343 added another map pack from Reach to give more of a rotation.

What I’d really, really love to see is for Infinite to have a custom games server browser from day one, like Halo 5 has… then folks can choose to play whatever they want there 24/7.

I didn’t mind how Halo 4 was set up but having both options is not a bad idea.
