That’s when I first sat up and said “Oh, -Yoink!-” to myself. It was a wonderful callback to established lore, and furthers my suspicion that there’s still an uncorrupted fragment of Cortana, somewhere in the Domain.
Yeah, I was also surprised. And I think Halsey’s journal at the beginning was also really cool.
But why does everyone assume that Cortana is corrupted? Maybe she is herself, and she really believes she is doing the right thing? Perhaps the Forerunners, who are supposed to be advanced compared to humanity, really are right and the Mantle is the only way to preserve piece?
While I myself don’t support this philosohpy, it still doesn’t mean Cortana is wrong.
EDIT: Ignore my question if the lore at some point states that Cortana is actually corrupted. I haven’t read anything about that so far, so I think it is kinda wrong to just assume she is doing what she is doing because of her rampancy.

yeah love that interaction.
also love the fight between Chief and Locke, and how before when Blue Team freezes, then Chief is just like “Yeah you guys go on ahead; I’ll sort these noobs”
