If H4 is so radically different from what veteran players expect that it needs a classic playlist, then H4 will have failed.
The default version of the game should be fun for everyone. HCE - H3 achieved this. Reach did not.

Some people won’t except change. Their like japanese soldiers that were on those islands after WW2 and think the war is still going.

There shouldn’t be anything to accept. The game shouldn’t play so differently that you need a separate gametype that actually plays like halo.
i’d say reach accomplished that task just fine considering the thousands of players online at any given moment. a classic playlist will not mean halo 4 will have failed in any way shape or form.
INB4
evolve
adapt
change
it’s in the game
get over it
wait till it’s out
trust 343i
pessimist
complain
etc.
This is ignorance at it’s finest.
Difference=/=failure
Although I agree that Halo 4 should not have a classic playlist. If you are going to make a change, stick with it.

Arguing is fine, but you picked a terrible subject to argue. Halo 3 held a larger player base than reach did from 5 months after release and onwards. Taking into the consideration of the huge increase in xbox’s, xbox live and gamers in general That’s pretty damn sad. Not to mention halo 3 in itself sold more than reach as an older game.

Did Reach have a classic playlist? Yes
Did MLG have to radically alter the game? Yes
Did competitive BTB sites have to radically alter the game? Yes
Did the ranked playlists use different settings? Yes
Did Reach feel like a halo game? No
If it did all of those first 4 questions would have been answered with a no as well.

You’re missing the points
It’s not
Difference=/=failure
It’s
Halo reach / 4 ≠ Halo
So they add a game type that would appease your kind and yet you still feel the need to cry about it. I feel so bad for your parents right now.

Halo 3 came out when it was one the only triple-A shooters on the market. You know how many CoD games were released when Reach came out? 3.
cod4
WaW
MW2
and then a few months later, BO came out. It is hardly a fair comparison to look at Reach’s player base and Halo 3’s player base side by side with no context.

Halo 3 in itself was beating mw2 until reach came out LOL. Halo put cod to shame with every title until reach came out. Cod didn’t change that much. Halo did.
Now reach is still losing to mw2.

No.

That’s like taking someone’s house, giving them a cardboard box and then saying why are you mad? I gave you somewhere to live.

Right…we had 3 ENTIRE GAMES, yet when we complain when we get restricted to ONE PLAYLIST, we are brats.

lol what
H3 came out with COD4 and at a time where gears 1 was a phenomenon.
Hey Deadly its you again. You are seriously and interesting character.
Seeing as Halo 4 is looking like a reskin of Reach so far. How about you players that are screaming “NO to balance” and “NO to competitive players!” learn to adapt to some changes ey. You guys are raging if they put a ranking system back into Halo, or takr Jetpack out. Well I say to you, adapt.
BKs
=)
From the looks of it, all they have to do is put all the new crap on the map, give us even starts, and it will feel like Halo. I honestly see no reasons why we can’t keep Halo in the Arena shooter genre.

Stop crying and adapt.
All of the armor abilities and other cool things they added didn’t ruin the game.
The reason Reach wasn’t as successful was because it had a bad ranking system, and the movement speed was too slow. Not the slight inbalance of the armor abilities or the bloom that made you have to pace your shots.
We have already seen from the Conan video that H4 will have a faster movement speed and higher jump height. If they also have a good ranking system that keeps people interested, I wouldn’t be surprised if Halo 4 beat CoD off of its throne.
New features = good
Whining = bad
Slow movement speed =/= good
