I am really excited about this new map, for a bunch of reasons - even though I got a bit sick of Haven in H4, it was hands down the most competitive map in the game. There were only a couple others that I liked in the whole game, I think this remake is going to be a great addition to H5 and I really can’t wait.
What I’m about to ask is not a complaint, not a rage session, I genuinely want to know what you all think about this -
Why is this remake coming out only now??
After all of the frustration we have had with remixes of maps that were only OK to begin with (Plaza/Overgrowth [the worst map in the history of all video games, Overgrowth - I’d rather play a Pong emulator on my PC], Fathom/Riptide, Torque/Stasis), we finally get a remake of a map that has already proven to be a fan favorite, competitively and socially.
After nearly a year, and much of the population has already gone (it’s just a fact, with so many multiplayer games out now people switch to other games, at least for a while), after so long of people on these forums being SO negative on remixes - why is this coming out now?
Is it a try to grab some population back? Is it supposed to be a showing for pros that there are some actually VIABLE competitive maps to come? Is it supposed to show us that some content from previous titles will make a return?
I’m not trying to knock 343 on this one - I’m unconditionally excited for this map and think it’s a great move. I’m just wondering why it’s coming out NOW - would it have been better for the community (and 343’s sales numbers) to release it early in the game’s lifetime? If it had been planned, why wait for all of the subjectively sub-par remixes to come out first? It’s really puzzling to me, and I really want to know what you all think. Maybe one of you all has a good explanation - to me it’s a real head scratcher. I don’t know game development but I do know marketing, economics, and business - I’m nearly as confused on this as I am excited to play the hell out of this new map!!
