Have you seen the new anti-cheat post from 343?

https://www.halowaypoint.com/news/closer-look-halo-infinites-anti-cheat-strategy

Honestly my first thought…

They built their own anti-cheat.
Should I actually expect it to work better than the actual game?

I mean, if the UI in the game can’t handle more playlists, how much can we expect their anti-cheat to be able to adapt to new cheats?

I don’t have much confidence after reading this.

I dunno. I mean, there were a lot of changes. I’m just hoping they don’t try the kernal anti-cheat anytime soon.

You give up a lot of safety and privacy for subpar results.

I mean, if I’m, basically, giving this AC the highest level of admin access and people still find a way around it? That’s an automatic no-go for me.

Here’s an interesting idea…
Why isn’t there an “intrusive” anticheat baked into windows via the xbox services? You’re already are having to trust (cough give up privacy) with windows, so having a built in anticheat in windows that games could use would actually make a lot of sense.
It would be a win-win for everyone (unless I’m missing something) as it wouldn’t be a third-party intrusive system, games would get a really good anticheat, and microsoft could license it to non microsoft games.

Yeah.

I just don’t have much confidence in 343 right now. I see the problems in the game. If they have similar temp contract workers doing the anti-cheat like they had working on the game, it doesn’t give me much hope.

You’re missing alot actually.

You can’t really store anything of importance or value on a console. They’re not multipurpose machines. They’re there for gaming and that’s it.

PC on the other hand is different. You keep a lot of stuff on your PC. So handing this anti-cheat administration level control over it would be a problem.

It’s essential installing a root-kit on PC. Bad news.

Could it be they thought it was cheaper to “DIY” it rather than hire it out to experts?

Seems like you missed the part where it was by windows… sooooo if you can’t trust windows with that “level of control” then you’re kinda screwed regardless of the anti-cheat.

The stuff you’re regurgitating about “being a rootkit” and kernel level ac is in reference to trusting a third-party to do it. Windows already has all that access.

Valorant did this and people were still hacking. So, it’s not really worth the trouble.

The supposed anti cheat is the third party. What are you talking about?

How about 343 just implements an ability for console players to play with console players. That would be great

that has been ask since day one off the release to chance the crossplay system that console players can play with only other console players.
it has also been told in the developent from the game few years ago.
it was more round the same time MCC got the first crossplay system that people wane see the same system in halo infinite that there can turn it off and only play with other Console players and not with PC players in halo infinite.
but the feedback from then has been ignore at all and we still not have the crossplay option in halo infinite at all.

and the anti cheat post is more a joke since its not going to help at all.
since its only help what a few day’s before there are back again so its not going do anything at all.

While that should be an option, they should still figure out better ways to stop cheating on console and PC.

This could all be solved if crossplay was optional.

Turning off cross play won’t stop cheaters

its true you cant stop cheaters at all on the PC for sure.
and sure crossplay becoming a option is good for the console players only what still most happing.

but there are other way’s to deal with PC cheaters there can add if crossplay become’s a option.

more in a way to bully then for using cheats.
look at Warzone from COD.
its not only keep the anti cheat software up do date but there are also bullying the PC cheaters more.
like:
put then in the same lobby more that cheaters play against other cheaters and not against normal players any more.

then you have the GOD MODE way.
that normal players can instakill the people that are using cheats more.
that means that 1 melee when there have still full hp and shields there are death by 1 melee all.

way’s like that there need to do more to bully then more for using cheating software in the first place.

it will not stop the cheaters but you give the console players there normal game without cheaters again since its always the PC platform that are using the cheats more.

While technically true, turning off cross-play will not stop ‘all’ cheating, but when the disease starts to metastasize it needs to be ‘isolated’ and removed to keep the individual alive.

Or to put it in mathematical terms,

(free-to-play) + PC = cheating

So we just flip PC players the bird and say “good luck with the cheaters”? No, 343 will still need to work to stop cheating.

is it not in the first place there problem to start with that there are cheaters on the PC platform at all.
so why most the console players deal with then also when its not there problem at all?
so what you tell is true its there problem and not the console players problem so let the console players play the game fair with each other and not get mix up with the PC platform problems there have.

and its in all game’s that PC players have to deal with it so yea its more normal for the PC platform to have cheaters there.

and to add also.
its not only happing in halo infinite its with all the game’s where the Console players are fighting against the crossplay system.
since the crossplay system is a compleet fail system to start with.
crossplay is only good for the Xbox platform and Playstation platform and not for the PC platform at all.
and its not only Xbox players that are against PC players in general its also the Playstation platform players that are against the PC players.

“So we just flip PC players the bird…”

Maybe. But facts don’t care about feelings. It’s far easier to cheat on a PC then it is to cheat on a ‘closed’ system like an Xbox console. Indeed, as part of the “Terms of Service”; if you try to modify your console to get a competitive advantage or play otherwise DRM lock material, Xbox/Microsoft can go as far as ‘bricking’ your console. The same cannot be said for someone’s PC…

Halo Infinite may need to learn to walk on one leg because the other gangrenous one had to be removed.

Nah. 343 won’t do that.

However, we can’t ignore the fact that cheating is significantly more easier on PC than on console. You got access to a system that can run 3rd party programs and such.

On a console, you don’t have any of that.

Quite a lot of text with little to no content. Reminds me a lot of the blog posts before the release.
