Have you played Halo 5's Beta?

Thoughts so far on the game likes and dislikes nothing more.

I played the early release version last week. I love the new gameplay mechanics. The beta feels fresh, new, and yet still Halo. My first game I instantly felt the way Halo CE played. Yet it was more modern. Everything is great, except, I’m not a fan of the Aim Down Sights (ADS). When I played the beta using ADS I kept getting killed. When I didn’t use ADS I didn’t get killed as much. ADS is VERY different than COD’s ADS. Not as easy for beginners, but helps for professional gamers. So I would like to see the ADS improved upon or not be made at all in the final version of Guardians. However, it doesn’t matter, as I now know how to play the multiplayer part of the game without using ADS. I’ve played Halo CE when it was released in 2001. I’d say Halo 5’s beta is the BEST Halo yet. More better than Halo 3, and way better than Halo 2. I also love the ranking system. No more complaints with it.

Yeah, its solid. New mechanics/gameplay elements, while keeping the traditional halo look and feel.
It’s exactly what Halo needs

When the 3-day early beta came around, I played it at a friend’s house.

The game plays somewhat similar more to the Big 3 (CE, 2, 3) than Reach and 4.

Positive:
-No loadouts

-No perks

-No Ordnance

-Sprint is nerfed to hell and back, and cannot be used as a get-outta-jail-free card like in 4

-All the weapons are usable. None feel too under-powered, although you can say some are rather OP.

-AR is a great weapon now, since it can’t be outclassed by the BR or DMR anymore.

-Thruster is great, possibly the best SA there is in the game

-Clamber isn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be. It makes the map feel more utilized

-Ground Pound is tricky to pull off, so take that as you will.

-Little to no aim assist, much lower than the other Halo’s

-Spartan Chatter is pretty nice.

-Medal placement and design are better, as well. I really enjoyed the Snipultaneous (mostly because it was so cheesy I couldn’t help but love it) and the Combat Evolved medals

-UI is a huge improvement from 4’s UI

-Descope is back

Negative:
-Flinch is back as well, albeit not to the extent as 4’s Flinch

-Slide really has no use, imo

-Ground Pound is OP, should just make it a direct kill on hit only

-Spartan Chatter can get pretty annoying

-Killcams are back in (I have nothing against them, but the models take too long to pop up, the music everytime you die is annoying, and it should be toggleable

-ADS is in, and it’s not cosmetic

-Sprint is still in as well. I never liked it in Reach, and I definitely did not like it in 4

-Jeff sounds like he’s on -Yoink!- throughout the match

-Too many annoying beeps

======

That’s pretty much my thoughts on the matter. Overall, I’d say it plays much better than Reach, which derailed things off-course, and 4, which had a tremendous identity crisis. It feels like Halo 5 has an identity that works well with what it’s got, and is thus more enjoyable. But it’s not without its share of problems.

If they can just fix up the problems and offer us some more options for some things, it will be a great Halo game for sure.
