So in other games with battle pass (like call of duty) you earn cod coins during the battle pass so if you progress enough you can purchase the next season pass without needing to spend any money but halo infinite battle pass doesn’t give any kind of currency so are we going to have to spend $10 each season to get the battle pass? Because if so that is not worth it.
Its like any other F2P game
the season passes are always an additional charge
Although I rmemeber before infinite launched 343i said the first battle pass was going to be free
Not sure what hapopened to that
technically this is the 2nd season because there was a “pre-season” battle pass when they were still working out the kinks of the game
Apparently they will be giving us credits to unlock in the S2 BP…whether there will be enough to cover the cost of a BP (like COD) is still tbc.
That’s good because if I had to pay $10 every season I simply would stop paying. But if I can earn enough credits to buy the next season then I will keep playing and grind it out to earn credits.
Yep. All they had to do was copy how COD have implemented their BP and career progression but it’s almost as if 343i haven’t played or paid attention to any other games, and implemented their own incomplete and unsatisfactory system hoping that we wouldn’t notice how bad it is…or they genuinely thought what they have done is a good thing (which it clearly isn’t).
You can also just get choosey about which seasons you buy. I didn’t buy the Reach one cuz, y’know, we’ve seen it before. But I might drop some Reward points for season 2 after I see what’s in it.
Point being, save your money if you ain’t feeling it.
One thing I like is they add a separate “battle pass” for limited-time modes that is completely free, the only problem is their LTM’s all suck
They’ll cost $10 worth of Credits each season and won’t expire. Starting in Season 2 though, the passes themselves will include credits.
“Will they include enough for the next pass?” Is a great question that we can’t answer yet. I would hope so, knowing that this is an industry norm, but 343 Industries has this nasty habit of doing things their way— whether or not it’s a good idea.
Any other f2p game gives you enough credits in the BP to buy the next BP, if not a little extra.
They never said that lmao.
I mean I could be wrong, but i’m nearly 100% positive they said the first battlepass would be free I’ll see if I can find a link
Yeah, that’s what I thought. If you buy the first battle pass and max out then it gives you enough for the next battle pass, so in theory, if you keep getting almost tier 100 then you only need to pay for the first season. That’s how cod and Fortnite are, which are the two of the most popular battle pass systems.
There is a key difference between other games’ passes and Infinite’s that everyone seems to ignore when comparing. That is that Infinite’s passes never expire. Other games require you to complete (or nearly complete) their pass before the next season launches in order to earn enough to get the next pass, this induces a serious case of FOMO and “games as work” grind. If you are unable to compete the pass, then you are SOL and you’ll need to purchase the next season.
If halo did this with the “never expire” system then there would be very little reason for anyone to buy another pass ever again, which I’m sure is a large source of revenue.
They could easily have a BP that never expires AND credits. All they have to do is allow the credits to expire (ie change them to zero value at the launch of the next BP).
Alternatively stop with the unnecessary BP never expires…there is absolutely nothing wrong with allowing BP content to expire and never be attainable again. The simple answer to any content if people moan about it is throw it in to the store.
That sounds like a great way to piss off a lot of people, zeroing out their accounts. Also, wouldn’t this make it impossible to buy the next pass with credits earned from the last one? Maybe there is a window where you can purchase before your credits expire?
You mean other than the reasons I described? Infinite’s store is already widely criticized as being heavily based in FOMO manipulative tactics, and the never-expire pass was widely praised throughout the gaming community as an improvement to the BP system by taking the pressure off casual gamers.
This is what the halo fanbsse wanted and embraced and now look at how terrible they implemented it if only there was enough backlash before the game came out about it
That is just as bad as events being limited time, it is stupid.
All it does is induce FOMO, it literally has no effect on the player other than," I have to play more or I won’t get X cosmetic"
It is stupid
Don’t count on it. I predict it’ll only be around 500 Credits earned so you can buy 1 store item, but a Battlepass is 1000 Credits.
What they should have done is add Credit earning to a cap for Events. Credit earned should be based on Event score, which you rack up as you keep playing during an Event. Say each winning game gave you 50 points, and you can earn 100 credits every 1000 points, so earning 5000 points will earn you 500 credits. If I can earn up to 500 credits every Event, I’ll play every Event for sure.
There was a free pass alongside the premium track so they might have been talking about that. There wasn’t much on the free pass though
