if Halo 6 is written by the same guy who wrote h5… I’m not going to play the SP at all. Not for one second. I hope I won’t have to just write off the campaign altogether like I do with BF and cod. I really enjoy halo SP games but halo 5s is the only one I did not beat period. I have no urge at all to replay or continue the campaign. Please hire someone new for halo 6 or someone proven that they can write a good compelling story that’s not a straight up lie.
We need someone who can actually make a decent story next time around.

What do you mean the story was a lie? If you mean the advertising and stuff from like 2013/4 that was way before halo 5 was fully into its story development, and the marketing material was from Microsoft, not cut from the actual story. Games do this all the time and if thats the case then they didn’t really lie to you at all.

What, you didn’t like Brian Reed’s story telling? Don’t you like the random killing off of monumental characters and the twists and turns that don’t match up with characters and their personalities? I thought that’s what made Halo great! (sarcasm)
I don’t think Halo 5’s story was a lie. The story was just so difficult to make sense of. I often found myself thinking, “What am I doing here?” or, “Why is Osiris here?” or, “Why does the Warden Eternal exist?” There’s just so much going on and not enough explanation as to how or why it’s happening.
So, in my opinion, the story wasn’t a lie, it’s just hard to believe.

ironically, Jul 'Mdama doesn’t really have a personality lol. pretty much, his personality is that he is salty cuz his wife died cuz of the civil war with the arbiter so he pretends to be religious so that he can get followers and get his revenge.

Yes I have to agree. The Halo 5 overall story and dialogue was quite bad. I still had fun in a few levels but the writing was subpar compared to previous halos. Definitely broke a few scriptwriting commandments. I just didnt care what was going on this time. The whole Cortana thing is so typical c grade sci fi. A rehash of other ai stories… Bungie and 343 in Halos 1 - 4 made an AI companion one of the most iconic, layered, human and likeable characters… thwn they completely wrote off some wonderful previous work. Pacing was awful, characters i just dont care about. Put Chief front and centre please
They’ve already changed writers for h6, so now it’s just a wait and see game on what the new writer does. If anyone wonders tho, I believe the halo writer left to do something else, and now h6 will have a former Bioware writer.
We need Frank O’Connor to write it!

Link please. I think the Bioware writer went to Bungie, not 343: http://www.polygon.com/2016/2/15/11010936/mass-effect-andromeda-lead-writer-bioware-bungie
I gotta say, I’m usually one to defend H5, but this is one thing I agree with. At no point was I invested in the story at all, and I never felt that your squad (blue team/ osiris) added anything at all to the story line. Blue team was poorly incorporated and had little to no personalities, and the overall story felt rushed and lacked any sort of interesting plot devices. We killed off Jul Mdama, someone who had 4 years worth of content and back story in the second cutscene if the game. The didact, who had monumental character building, did nothing, and was hardly mentioned. Not to mention the fact that the only conflict that happened between Blue Team and Osiris lasted about 30 seconds, and was a brief (albeit badass) fist fight.
Tl;Dr, I love halo 5, I love halo’s lore. But the ad campaign, and the game, don’t match, and Brian Reed is not suited for this scale of a narrative just yet.
(fun fact, it appears as if there was a massive re-write just before launch. I’ll try to find a source if I can.)

Is there anything known about the previous script? Like parts of the story?

I wish he was moving back to 343… He wrote Halo 4, too.
Yeah, because one person wrote the entire plot with no supervision or oversight from anyone. It’s a cooperative process to write and extended a storyline for a game. I would rather see where they’re heading. Some people hated Halo 2s story but loved halo 3. I guess I’m biased though. I didn’t jump on the story hate train. I thought the campaign was fun.
yeah 5 was the most alienating yet. Sure it was nice for everyone who read the books. I just play the game though always liked the story and this one was lousy at best. Spartan Locke I could careless about blue team is awesome but I still don’t care for anyone other then chief. The arbiter is awesome as always. The whole basis is filled with plot wholes where and how did both these fireteams come together. How about some more on blue team. The animated series the fall of reach was only like half the book. Literally if anyone died on either fireteam I really could careless. Again unless its chief. Go home Spartan Locke your lousy. Quite frankly master chief should of broke your neck and for Locke to crack his visor. Yeah right. Locke would be a dead man.

How do you know they changed writers? Where is this source you found? If so, please let it be true!

Yeah if that was true than we would see Brian Reed replaced posts popping up like popcorn here… Followed by rejoicing lots and lots of rejoicing. Til than I’m already expiring the h6 campaign to suck and be lackluster, and just waiting for the MP.
