Everyone Is too scared to use their microphone. What the hell is wrong with this community? How socially awkward are you going to get…
Agreed. It annoys me to no end to be the only person with a microphone in 90+% of games, and even in the <10% where it isn’t just me, it’s one other person only (who usually has a dog, a crying baby, or is a small child, for some reason).
People have reasons for not using the mic, you shouldn’t generalize an assumption.
Apparently you never played pre-party chat. You want to talk about socially awkward, game after game having to listen to prepubescent teens tell me how they were going to sexually assault my mother got tiring, so I stay in party chat to talk to my friends, many of whom play games other than Halo. In general, making generalizations makes you look…naive.
No need with the Sparta chatter-that’s a joke. Just be happy that there isn’t a chat box cause the -Yoink- I see in LoL is out of this world.
I don’t get it either, I assume it’s a generation thing because I talk (CE player-so I’m older).
If the choice is be socially awkward and not use a mic or listen to heavy breathing, eating, gibberish, background Kinect noise, armchair generals, and nerd rage… then yes, I’m socially awkward.
My reasons for not using my mic:
- People are idiots.
- People are idiots.
- I have a 4 1/2 month year old.
- Why would I want to talk to random people on a game?

Most people would call this…mature, well-adjusted even. Socially awkward would be screaming at strangers on the internet, shouting out orders as if you’re storming Fallujah.
Anyone of you guys trying to get some Halo 5 games going?
If you’re Good or Equal to me go ahead and message me for some games. If you’re better and you think i’d be nice to pick up, please drop an invite.

I’ll agree the with 1 & 2; however, it’s a team game and communication can go along way towards winning.

Yes and no. I haven’t talked to another person besides my cousin on MCC once, and I almost have a 2:1 Win/Loss ratio.

If you find solo que more enjoyable than a team then hats off to you.
I remember during the Halo 3 days, when I entered into Matchmaking, I would get a majority of players with their mics on even if I only queued by myself.
One of the main problems with “modern” Halo is that unlike its classic predecessors, because it’s trying to imitate its competitors today instead of staying true to the formula like it has from 2001 to 2010, people don’t use mics anymore partially due to Halo trying to “evolve” into a twitch-based shooter. Today’s Halo just doesn’t promote teamwork and interaction with others anymore—and that saddens me greatly. Like many other twitch-based shooters, they don’t have a template in their gameplay that heavily promoted teamwork and interaction in multiplayer like Halo 2 and 3 did.
343 is ruining such a unique and simple yet intricate franchise.

I do plug my headphones in every now and then, when I know the lobby is secure of kids

Me too … played since CE, but I don’t think 2001-2015 is technically a generation.
I think people mostly use party chat.
I despise people. So yes, I am socially awkward.
I’d say the anti-social people are the reasons why everybody else has become socially awkward.
I use party chat myself. In my experience, game chat is usually someone complaining about a cheep death or how someone is taking advantage of laging players. It is refreshing to play with coordinated players though.
Well I’ve been hanging out with Gordon Freeman lately so…
