I absolutely loved what they showed for campaign, but I do miss the quippy and more playful side of Chief. It really feels like that has been lacking in 4/5 and I’m worried it will be the same here. It just seems like he’s always brooding or they’ve taken him too seriously and forget to have fun with his banter and mannerisms.
Things like:
- ”Sir, to give the covenant back their bomb” - Chief tossing the grenade in The Maw to show he’s just gonna blow it all up. - ”relax, I’d rather not piss this thing off” - Him pulling out the rocket launcher when Cortana asks if they could possibly make anymore noise - “You told me there wouldn’t be any cameras” - Him smacking his helmet to shut Cortana up after being teleported upside down - And what I think is his most underrated line, “that’s a first” after guilty spark said he was mistaken.Halo 1-3 were filled with admittedly corny but funny moments like those and I kind of miss them. I appreciate them taking a deeper dive with Chief but I wish they’d still have a bit more fun with him.
