I’ve been on a bit of a hiatus from Halo 4 for the past couple months, only dropping in on occasion to try the new rotational playlists. I’ve popped into the forums a few times to see if anything has changed in regards to these unreleased weapon skins, and I was wondering if anything changed.
So… has anything changed? It’s been nearly six months since the Champions DLC was released, and 343i still hasn’t told us how to unlock these skins or given us the codes. Some people thought we’d be able to get them with the Xbox One or Xbox 360 versions of Spartan Assault, but it’s been a month since SA was released on the 360, two for the Xbox One, and still nothing.
What reason could 343i possibly have for holding out on us this long?
NOTICE For those wondering what the hell I’m talking about, there are unreleased weapon skins (DMR “CONCRETE” & Battle Rifle “BLAST”) as well as one armor skin (Orbital “SWIFT”) which were included in the Champions DLC, but there is no legitimate means of unlocking them. If you’ve seen anyone using them, they obtained them through the usual “unlock everything” mod.
Shame, too. I looked it up and these skins look beautiful.
BR Blast and DMR Concrete
On the other hand, it would be nice if they added another ‘cut’ item on Halopedian if they don’t release these things by the time Halo XBO comes out.
I had a thought that they might actually be 343 exclusive content. And maybe thats why they haven’t been released to the public (without the aid of modding accounts)? Bungie had Recon armour (before the Vidmaster challenge) and flames in Halo 3, and the blue flames in Halo Reach (before Bungie Day 2011). Maybe these weapon skins and the Orbital Swift skin is their versions of employee exclusives.
But the more likely reason is that they will be released with the next line of McFarlane Halo action figures, since some of the images of the prototypes that were on show were displayed with the words “includes unlockable content code”.
I find myself questioning the large ammount of blue weapon skins (3 out of 4) coming with the Series 2 Halo figuirines. That said, the Carbine’s ENGAGE skin looks pretty nice (http://www.spawn.com/news/images/halo4s2_unlockable_photo3_cl.jpg)
As of now, there’s still no way to unlock them. However, I agree with Phil. Most likely it will be released in the next set of McFarlene Figures (I hope one of them is Recon)

Any idea when the next set of McFarlene toys are even coming out?

The link that Phil posted said July 2014 in the bottom right corner.
Hopefully this time some good figures so far this year for H4 figures have been slow. They’ve been going slow since Reach. Disappointing too. I was really looking forward to getting the Hunter but I hear no announcements on no figures they are making yet so I’m having low hopes for McFarlene. At least I got my H3 Hunter I bought so I’m all done. If they’re releasing anymore armor codes I’m getting them on ebay. No more figures for me until I see some new ones.

So far the only new ones I know of are the Halo 2 Master Chief (the one I linked) and the Halo Xbox One Master Chief with the cloak and Boltshot.
I have reason to believe that the BR Blast skin is attainable. I saw someone using it about a week ago in on of my games on Adrift. This same player had the Carbine skin that comes with the Jackal. I never thought to ask how he got it, or to save the film. I’m sorry I can’t be of more help atm. I may take a look through my game history and see if any names strike a bell. Hopefully we can get to the bottom of this.

He more than likely obtained it with modding. The skins are in the deep, dark recesses of the game’s code, so they’re accessible through that. But it has to be modding. That might be how he got the Jackal carbine skin as well, without actually purchasing the action figure.

Is the Jackal Carbine skin not out yet? Edit: Nvm, it came out in October.

I saw somebody using the BR “Blast” skin as well. I have the film, as well as a few Recent Screenshots of it. I managed to kill him and take the gun off him during the game.
Anybody using those skins is a MODDER. End of story. If there were a legit means of obtaining them, somebody on this forum would know; there be would be legitimate videos on YouTube explaining how to get them, perhaps a thread with the glyph codes need to unlock them. There are none. Use your common sense.
Also, if he tells you that 343i gave him a code to unlock them, he’s bull-Yoinking! you. 343i doesn’t just hand out those codes.
If they’re making new Mc Farlane Sets that match with Halo 2 / Halo 5 … Well, who knows. maybe a Halo2 Anniversary is comming in 2014?

Since that pic reminded me, im still trying to figure out why Jackals look like dinosaur lizards and not birds like they used to.

Jackals have always been reptilian like. Its just the artistic design thats changed, like with Master Chief’s armour.

Actually, the Jackals we see in Halo 4 are a sub-race which evolved on an isolated continent of the Jackal homeworld, rather like Skirmishers.
Also, Jackals were descended from reptiles.
I hope they’re released to the public soon
