Have an idea on why 343 doesn't want PVE

If PVE is presented then no one would want to play their main star attraction Warzone and all of its flaws.

They sunk alot of time into Warzone and get insulted by people just wanting PVE for all their hard work in warzone

I doubt it’s their reason, and it would be pretty stupid if it was. 343 is already pushing people towards Warzone by prioritizing it over Forge, BTB, more social playlists, etc. Besides, they still have to work on all the DLC maps. If PvE came, it’d probably take a while.

Honestly, you could be both right, and wrong. Who is to say that they aren’t working on a firefight mode right now to surprise us with? They could use all of the ai and bosses they put hard work into another mode. It doesn’t hurt the population of warzone. A 4 person firefight match won’t ruin a thing. People love the scale of warzone, so it won’t be going anywhere.

Can Halo 5 survive with just Warzone as the only PVE-ish game type though?

PVP is frustrating, one way or another it’s frustrating, why do you think a majority of triple A games now a days always have a PVE gametype? So you can kick back and relax abit with friends

Halo has always been about PvP after campaign is beat…I think it can keep the trend going.

Except when it wasn’t? lol

Halo:3 ODST (Just campaign and firefight)
Halo Reach, Firefight
Halo 4: Spartan Ops

Halo Zombies??!!

Don’t give that man. ODST was trash IMO, reach was more popular for its pvp , hence why I can see 15k players on it, spartan ops for 4 was very subjective and they canceled season 2. Just cause there are pve elements doesn’t mean the PvP wasn’t the top played thing. Halo 5 is made like it is (competitively) because 4 was to casual.

Lack of PvE isn’t the issue, rather, the lack of PvE in the current landscape of game releases is the issue. Many other titles are simply offering more for our hard-earned $60.

In my opinion, too much time was sunk into the REQ system, which, not by accident, is tied directly to Warzone. The thing that’s funny about Warzone, is that there are hardly any AI combatants to kill. 343 made it seem like maps would be crawling with enemies to kill and that we would have an occasional run-in with a human combatant.

H:CE, Halo 2 and Halo 3 were and will always be the most popular Halo’s in the series. These did not have a PVE component, besides the campaign. ODST was a spin off of H3 and I do not include it in the Halo 3 game. Reach’s multiplayer was hated by many and I guess people really enjoyed Firefight, but I will never understand why (killing mindless AI, was not enjoyable to me at all). Spartan Ops was a complete failure, and was not enjoyed by many. Sure the side story of Spartan Ops was enjoyable, but the actual game play of Spartan Ops was terrible. Halo will be perfectly fine without a PVE mode.

I would like something like Firefight or Spartan Ops to play with a small fireteam of 4. That would not ruin Warzone at all, since it’s 12v12.

Added missions would be good, but ‘PvE’ is weird. Firefight (Horde Mode) was cool, but wasn’t my favorite at all. Spartan Ops was cool, but it was just more ‘Story Missions’. So I think that would be set up differently.

Times are changing people, maybe just maybe people don’t want to be all super competitive anymore in FPS? I hear my friends who bought Blops 3 buy it just for the Zombies aspects of the game.
TF2 added that Man vs Machines gametype, Destiny is mostly PVE. Hell I have a friend who bought Halo 5 just for it’s campaign because he hates PVP.

Halo may have started off being PVP eccentric but it’s changing, around that time of which the first halo games where released it was all about PVP, but not anymore. I can’t find myself to enjoy halo 5 much because of all the tryhard MLG players who are super overly competitive, why can’t there be a Halo game to please ALL of its fans?

This ^^^

OP: I’m not saying halo can’t have pve, but I am saying PvP will always be halos main focus in longevity. 1 was popular local wise, 2 revolutionized online play multiplayer wise, 3 lasted and had a HUGE population in multiplayer, odst wasn’t really a big game but firefight did introduce a new element (I never likedit personally), reach had the best forge world and customization but still supported PvP over everything else. 4 kind of withered a bit but btb seemed to keep it going with 3k players on majority of the day on that playlist Alone. Now to #5, like I said earlier, its PvP is much more competitive because people thought 4 and reach were to casual. Halo was built on its PvP and the added features through out the franchise helped it but in the end, PvP is was keeps it running. That’s my take. On it and why I think halo would be just fine without pve. Its campaign is enough to keep lore fans happy as well.

Or they’d just make the PvE mode (fire firght or SO or w/e) incorporate and share the Req collection…

Apologies for the double post.

It’s 2015, and we are already spoiled by Reach’s great Firefight, not to mention ODST…

Not that many people played firefight or Spartan ops.
Companies do things for profit, and to get profit they have to please the largest percentile. Whilst I would love a pve only warzone variant or something, there isn’t a market for it.

I shudder to imagine what a PVE Warzone experience would be like since the AI portions in the mainline version of it are so lackluster.

A Firefight-version of Warzone seems pretty simple to design, if not implement.

Pick a base, fight off waves; you have the req system like normal Warzone.
