I feel so bad for 343, truly.
Their games are NOT bad. 343 Industries has done more than enough to satisy it’s fans by giving us more Halo content than ever before and innovation that hasn’t been in a Halo game since 2010.
You people CONSTANTLY complain about how you don’t want change, and how Halo 4 was a bad game and now Halo 5 will be even worse. SUCK IT UP!
Allow me to let you in on a little industry secret, innovation keeps games alive. Randy Pitchford (from Gearbox) said it best. He said that the most successful games nowadays are mainly new and fresh IP’s. After a while any game will get fatigued, and get left in the dust unless a change is made.
Have you noticed how there hasn’t been a Brothers in Arms game in years? Have you noticed how there’s no release date on a Borderlands 3 yet? Its because these game companies know that what we as consumers want is something bigger and better. And sometimes that better, means being a little different too.
You people can’t continue to lie to yourselves anymore. This community hasn’t been the same since Halo 3, and neither have the games. Armor abilities, more interactive characters, different game modes, newer EVERYTHING. It’s true, this game [Halo 5:Guardians] won’t be like anything we’ve played before. And it shouldn’t! We’ve been playing the same Halo games up until 343 stepped in, and it’s nice to see they’re looking to make even more changes in the future. Like I said earlier, fatigue can kill any franchise like Call of Duty, but if 343 ever wants to be back up on the “mantel”(yes, I had to throw that pun in there lol), then they need to continue to innovate and create the most polished looking and feeling Halo games ever.
To close this I’d like to thank 343 for everything they’re doing, and to keep up the good work. I will without a doubt continue to support and trust you all with the universe I love.
See you star side… Charlie
Keep it civil below people
I give great thanks to 343 for the master chief collection, its the first of its kind and its awesome to relive the golden ages of halo 1-3.
Where i begin to disagree is halo 4/reach had the fastest population drops out off all the halos, yes innovation is needed, but wrong innovation will hurt much much worse.
Chess is still played to this day because formula isn’t touched, people still love soccer and football etc. They have a perfect formula and that is halo 2 and 3, all they need to do is build upon those installments with minor innovation.
Halo 5 is shaping up to be the next halo 4, i mean just compare the two and the population speaks for itself

If they had such a perfect formula then why did everyone leave to go play Call of Duty 4? Can you take a wild guess why Bungie/343 implemented certain elements into their games?
I remember back in the day there was always talk of possible “Halo Killer’s” like Killzone, Restsistance, and every other generic Sci-Fi FPS trying to cash in on what Bungie started. When its funny, Call of Duty didn’t kill Halo.
Halo killed Halo.
The lack of innovation, the silent protagonists, there’s many reasons behind it. But because Bungie “had” the perfect formula, doesn’t mean it will always be. That why when Call of Duty 4 came out, it sold like Cabbage Patch Kids! They took our favorite FPS genre but put on a twist, a new modern era shooter with arguably the best multiplayer innovation in the industry. People like new, they don’t want more of the same Halo, otherwise, Halo 5 would just be Halo 2 with new guns.
If 343 wants ANY sort of chance on getting back their casual gamer’s this is the only way. And after watching the first beta matches during Halo Fest, how could you NOT be excited? I mean, it’s like they’re taking bits and pieces from every shooter out there from Counter Strike to the newest Call of Duty, and combing it with that Halo theme we all know and love. Give it some time, you’ll all come around to it.
The ignorance is strong with this post.
I think Halo 5 looks ok but Halo 4 deserved the hate. They ruined Halo’s map control and basic gameplay with loadouts, ordinance, perks, Promethean vision, jetpack, camo, flinch and more. I can’t blame people for being so reactionary about change after Reach and 4.

Halo 4 and this so called 5 killed halo, when cod 4 was out halo 3 still had millions of players on. Halo is trying to be like call of duty now and that’s killing the franchise and i assure you halo mcc will have a greater population than 5. I wonder why their is no population counters, they would be too embarrassed
Call of Duty 4 was the highest sold game in the US on 360 from November 2007 until January 2008. I think you should check your facts again.
Call of Duty gets hated on by generally everyone because it is the new Halo. People hate it for its community, people hate it for its campaigns, and some people hate it because its always the same. Now, let me put this into perspective for you. Say Halo had the best “formula” for the FPS and kept it the same until Halo 3. People get bored, hate on it, and leave when something better comes out.
That “thing” was and is Call of Duty.
Now, Call of Duty has the “formula” and people are actually getting tired of the same thing every year. So why would 343 create another generic Halo when they know thats not what we want. No one wants another Halo 2 because there will never be another Halo 2. Just like no one wants another Call of Duty 4, because all you get are countless sequels and knock-offs that weren’t as good as the original. Try to keep in mind the difference here I’m about to share with you…
343 Industries is NOTHING like Activison.
Activison doesn’t care what people want, they’ll keep making those games because they know they will sell and just care about the numbers until start dropping. 343 is much smarter than you think. See they understand their current standing in the FPS market and they also understand what kinds of feature’s cater to the casual gamer these days. So here’s what they do, take a little of the old formula that we all knew and loved, and mix it with some of our newer and more modern(or advanced) features that we see in games today like Titanfall and Advanced Warfare. The outcome is unclear, but I have a strong feeling that Halo MCC will start the spark all us Halo fans have, and by the time Halo 5 comes out 343 will skyrocket to the top charts on XBL once again.
Halo 4 was indeed bad, though. It was a damn train wreck.
Halo 5 sounds way better than loadout, armor ability, and POD-based gameplay, but there are still issues preventing Halo from truly regaining its uniqueness. Change can be good or bad, but change for the sake of change almost always turns out badly. I mean, smart scope supposedly functions like classic zoom, so it’s literally pointless. Then of course there’s sprint, which was also change for the sake of change, but it’s been impacting gameplay in an extremely negative way for the past four years. Honestly, sprint was the one thing that I wanted gone the most when Halo 5 was announced–not loadouts or even AAs.
No rational player would want the exact same game every few years. But no rational fan would blindly support any changes made by the developer either.
I love 4 (campaign, not multiplayer) and I am very excited for Halo 5
I think we should cut 343 some slack. The game looks great and we should all just calm down.
