Haters...

I am so sick of hearing the “casualisation” argument - especially since the argument always ends up being reduced to bickering over sodding Multi-Player!

Halo only belongs to a certain group of people, who define themselves as the ‘true audience’? How dare you. How dare you suggest such a thing…
Halo belongs to everyone who finds it, falls in love with it, and wants to play it.

Last year I definitely qualified as a casual gamer - I only owned a Wii and played like 30 minutes at a time 2 or 3 times a week. But I found more and more I wasn’t satisfied and wanted to play more, so I bought a 360.

Halo 3 was the first game I put in the system. Within about 15-30 minutes (I lose track of the time cause I was having such a blast) not only had it convinced me that I’d made the right choice to get into gaming more seriously, not only had it convinced me I’d bought the right console, but that this franchise would be my favourite.

I’ve since played every entry I could get my hands on, still looking into how to get hold of 2, and can say without question that it is my favourite series/franchise in gaming.

My story is surely what existing fans of the series want to hear – someone becoming a more involved gamer as a result of finding the Halo series. And to anyone suggesting that because I haven’t been around long enough, don’t hate 343, don’t treat Multi-Player as the most important element, or whatever that somehow my love of the series means nothing compared to theirs… Who in the hell died and left you guardianship of the franchise?!

so you’re saying wii is for kids and casuals? aight, aight…

The ones who have fed this series every day since the start.

Especially since a lot of people don’t really seem to understand what an actual “casual player” is (apparently you don’t either).

Basically if you dont say halo 3 was the best halo you arent a “true” halo fan

According to most people ofcourse…

Halo 2 was my herion halo4 is my methadone.

Lights out but everybodies home.

You have been on xbox live for less than one year, your first game was H3 after it had been out for four years, and you are asking questions about why loyal fans make the halo world go-round.

Lets just put it this way: without the thousands of halo fans that buy Halo games and items, there wouldnt even be a Halo 4 right now. You know, maybe we feel a little entitled to how this game should play. Maybe we just want our voice to be heard.

I guess my answer to your “… Who in the hell died and left you guardianship of the franchise?! …” is… us. The community.

You’ll learn one day, if you absolutely love Halo 4, dont get too comfortable, because im sure there will be an astronomical difference between Halo 4 and Halo 6, just like there was with HCE and Halo 3.

lol halo 3 was poop compared to Halo CE, and arguably not as good as H2, still a great halo title but that br spread was horrendous

The Halo 4 DMR is more like the CE pistol or the H2 BR,

kids who started on Halo 3 are more often the ones hwo have issues with this game

Completely and totally false. We have no “stewardship” over the franchise. We have just as much influence as the OP. We are no better for any reason, nor do we have any more say.

The most you can do is voice your opinion, make your criticisms and suggestions, and move on to the next topic. Same as him. Jesus, we really are becoming like the Sonic fanbase.

No one knows what a Casual gamer is. They’re all painted with the same brush. Casualization is not even a real term. Just something the “Hardcore” use to make their opinion seem more important.

Actually, nearly everything I said was a fact., GOLD SKYCAP.

The loyal fans that buy every halo title and map pack make halo thrive, not the new-comer halo fan who buys one game and plays for a few months.

Furthermore, it is inevitable to to believe that Halo 6 will not be completely different than Halo 4. That was fact aswell.

I suppose the only part that is my opinion is the part where I said “You know, maybe we feel a little entitled to how this game should play. Maybe we just want our voice to be heard”. Then yeah, maybe that was opinion based.

Your statement “Completely and totally false.” was incorrect, and you need to stop being so on edge. Neither I nor you can speak for the entire fan base or how they feel, leave it at that.

Actually if you compare DLC and game revenue you might find that’s totally not the case (DLC and game sales among a die-hard minority might be far outweighed by the more “casual” market.)

You may assume “hey, I spent more than those dirty Halo 4 immigrants. I deserve more recognition!” but you’d be just as wrong as Republicans are now in assuming that their self-elected status as “true Americans” makes them somehow more entitled to a basic level of representation as any other part of the US. In the grand scheme of the Halo community they’re (the newcomers) just as important as you because for all you’ve done someone else, who’s new to the franchise, might contribute just as much or even more to the success of Halo 4, 5, 6, and whatever comes after that. Or even more simply the love and support of seasoned fans can’t sustain Halo indefinitely because we’re an ever shrinking population (no recruitment, you have to have been with it from near the beginning, and people simply grow up/get tired of Halo in general. IE. emigration) So in either case we need the new-comer, and a hell of a lot more than he needs us (tedious geezers that we are.)

Actually I’ve been on Live for 15 months.

That’s not what I was saying. I was simply expressing my intense frustration with people who claim that their opinion, for whatever reason, somehow carries more weight than say mine.

Yeah the franchise is here today because of all the loyal fans. However there’s little to no acceptance from these same fans that Halo must change with the times to attract a new group of fans or it will die out.

I’ll rephrase - how is it only people like you know what Halo needs to be? Why not the people who’re playing and enjoying it? Why not the actual creators of the game, especially those who’ve come over from Bungie because they love the series so much they didn’t want to be parted from it?

I’m very happy with 4, just as I was with Reach, CE: A and 3, and I’m sure so long as they’re fun and keep the Halo feel I’ll be happy with 5 and 6.
