Hate The XB1? Still Want To Support 343?

If you plan on not getting a console but don’t want 343 to die in process, simply purchase the new Halo but nothing else. Yeah, you obviously won’t be able to play it without the console. But that’s not the point…

It’s about sending a message. You support Halo. You don’t support the current Xbox.

Sounds like a waste of your hard earned money.

> Sounds like a waste of your hard earned money.

Well, let’s put it this way. If you could send Microsoft a message and keep 343 from going if you just payed $60, wouldn’t you do it?

Microsoft is massive, it’s not easy to hit them where it hurts unless the masses are all doing it.

I just would find it ridiculous to have a game sitting around that I can’t even play, especially if it’s Halo.

Even if you buy a halo game microsoft will still get something out of it.

That’s pretty stupid, bro. Why would I buy the new Halo if I don’t own a X-bone?

Stupid idea ever!

OP you’re a funny guy today.

That is crazy. I suppose you could try putting it in a cd player and see what happens!

Master troll 8/10

support halo by continuing to play the previous games instead of buying anything new. The only way you can send a message to them is by not buying it altogether.

MS and 343 are pretty much one in the same. So whether or not this is a good idea the real question is are you willing to get an X1 now to help support 343 with the development of the next Halo? Do you love Halo enough to want to do your part to help keep it alive?

I think we need to start asking ourselves if this is plausible for us. I think there is a real potential for X1 to fail, and not get the kind of support to continue on some of its big projects. Maybe I am being overly concerned, but there is a lot of negativity out there right now.

The more I keep thinking about it the more I am thinking about pre-ordering one no matter what. Despite the DRM, used games, low power state mode, and 24 hour check in there is an amazing possible future to gaming with this console.

Basically these things:

  1. If your Xbone cannot verify your account with an online check for 24hrs, you lose ALL console functionality. You are even prevented from playing games offline.

  2. The Kinect is a requirement, even if YOU the consumer decide to never use it, you will have to buy one -AND- have it connected to the Xbone in order for the console to function.

that article is biased for the xbox one. Most of it is suited ot making it sound better than it actually is.

False you say?

I can only assume you are referencing my post.

If so, please clarify how the two points I mentioned are definitively “false”.

The first point I raised:

  1. If your Xbone cannot verify your account with an online check for 24hrs, you lose ALL console functionality. You are even prevented from playing games offline.

Your linked article says:

> As we saw above, you will be able install your games to your hard-drive and have your entire library available to play without putting the disc in the disc tray.
>
> This is why the 24-hour check is required. Without this, many copies of the same game could be installed into multiple X1’s and it would be absolutely crumble game sales.
>
> The drawback to this is not being able to game offline. Microsoft has said that the final decisions to this issue have not been final. I believe if they allow you to play offline with the disc in the disc tray, this would become a non-issue.

Please note the bolded word “if” - this “if” is exactly what DavidJCobb proposed as well. But it is a belief by the redditor that this will happen, not a statement of fact. So how exactly is my statement false? As of right now, it appears that AT BEST, it is unknown - though Microsoft employees have said FAR more that backs up my statement. Anything contrary is merely speculation at this point.

The second point:

  1. The Kinect is a requirement, even if YOU the consumer decide to never use it, you will have to buy one -AND- have it connected to the Xbone in order for the console to function.

Your linked article says:

> “You are in control of when Kinect sensing is On, Off or Paused: If you don’t want the Kinect sensor on while playing games or enjoying your entertainment, you can pause Kinect. To turn off your Xbox One, just say “Xbox Off.” When the system is off, it’s only listening for the single voice command – “Xbox On,” and you can even turn that feature off too. Some apps and games may require Kinect functionality to operate, so you’ll need to turn it back on for these experiences.”
>
> As I’ve stated before, you will have the control to everything that the Kinect has to offer. If you don’t want it to hear you? You can do that. If you don’t want it to see you, you can do that. Don’t want it to listen for the “Xbox On” while it’s off, you can also do that.

Again, nothing refutes my statement. The Kinect is bundled, so you are required to purchase it if you wish to purchase an Xbone (even if you don’t plan on using the Kinect features) -AND- the Kinect MUST be connected in order for the console to function, even if you “turn the Kinect off”, it must still be connected.

Odds are halo 5 will just be more cod stuff in halo, I don’t see the point in supporting halo anymore if I need a PERK scavenger to pick up grenades.

It removes your right of ownership of the games you buy by taking away your ability to so with it as you please like what was able to be done from the atari 2600 to the 360

Why the hell would I buy a game from 343 again? Especially if I couldn’t even play it? Lol.

> that article is biased for the xbox one. Most of it is suited ot making it sound better than it actually is.

So the article is biased for presenting facts and clarity?
I didn’t see anything biased. Just facts as to what is what and why.
