Hate on sprint

This goes for any modern Halo game. Why all the hate on sprint, the little ability to move faster? Do players enjoy the slow movements?

They like a game-style that is centred on map control.

It’s not about the speed of the game… from what I’ve read they don’t mind the game being faster (pace / wider FOV).

They don’t like having to lower their guns to sprint… and they don’t like players using enhanced mobility (not just sprint - but thrusters, clamber, etc) to evade a contest.

They really don’t like the bigger maps (which are harder to lock down).

They are not happy little campers.

Then maybe they should be good enough to counter a contest evasion. Not like it’s hard, you have to turn your back to run, and it’s a closed map.

Seriously, I always hated that argument. “Reeeee how dare this opponent use a mechanic to dodge/disengage/recup instead of dying to me straight away!” Might as well just go play SWAT exclusively, if you value your twitch reflex that much.

EDIT; I could probably fill a pamphlet with all the reasons I find the ‘People use it to run away!’ complaint frivolous. Everything from the usage implying the complainer is too incompetent to shoot a fleeing opponent or guess one step ahead to wipe them out at a later point, to arguing that you can run away without sprint in the first place and that the complainer is taking the evasion way too personally.

> The developers of Reach could’ve just done an auto sprint thing where the longer you run the more you go faster to the point of sprinting instead of sprint being a button press, then maybe it would’ve been accepted by the community better, and Halo 5 sprint would actually be a faster speed than Halo 2 movement speed.

It changed how the game played and felt. Classic community just wants Halo to feel like it used to is all.
