Hate in game chat

Hello all again

Why o why must there be so much hate in this game from higher level players in game chat slating others off. It only a game for goodness sake grow up and get a life.

I even got a hate message from a pro player if he really was still not known think he had one of those fancy team tag on.

343 cant you do something about all those haters I love halo for this being my first mp title I no my kid will be awful but who cares I dont it’s all about having fun in my eyes

Over and out

It’s just a bit of trash talk. It’s a part of Halo and gaming in general and can be ignored. Nothing to do with growing up. But, if you get hate mail, you can report the message and/or person to Xbox.

Idk.

Just ignore it. I always just send a smiley face back when I get messages.

Ignore…report…block…then delete the message. Not worth getting upset over.

Ehh, I’m doubting a pro player would care enough to do that and anyone can get those HCS team emblems and equip them. For the messages, like others have said just mute, report, block or ignore.

You have been given the tools for this issue your having :+1:

You can block, ignore, etc. like all the others said. What I know is that people don’t like to lose especially if they’re really good. So if you’re not so great (your K/D is 0.554) and you encountered this in a ranked match then I’d work at it on social slayer then move to ranked, that way you can do better and nobody will be mad. It is pathetic and rude that some players are so low in life that they have to attack someone for an online game, but just as it’s not fun for someone to get rude messages it’s not fun to carry a team and have a ton of kills only to lose. I’m an average player (not bad but not great) so when I do a seriously good game it’s not fun to lose because there are consequences that I couldn’t do anything about (i.e. rank drop). But I’ve never sent a mean message. Please know that I don’t think you deserved a mean message.

Endy wolf I’ve seen you all over these forums posting spam that doesn’t help any conversation. That can result in trouble from mods. “Idk” is not a constructive post. We know you’re posting spam to increase forum rank.

I’ve always felt that if i have to block/report someone who is trash talking, I’ve let them win. I just give them some of their own medicine.

And then they report you, you get communication banned, and they’ve actually won.

Unfortunately if you retaliate you can get in trouble. So its best to report and block, that is not letting them win at all.

i only ever sent “hate messages” in jest to players who are better than I am. I try to make it clear as possible I’m not being serious and mostly we just have some friendly banter back and forth. I also send hearts and winky faces when someone loses who was teabagging me.

I would never sent hate mail to anyone for doing poorly or to anyone seriously for that matter because I really don’t see the point. have a good life outside of gaming and don’t need success in these games to feel good about myself.

Just know that people who do that kind of kind of thing are sometimes not in a very good spot when they do. Don’t take it seriously and move on. Not worth your time.

I don’t think people are “that low in life” just because they trash talk. Everyone gets tilted, people react to it in differeny ways. Sure messaging someone isn’t the best but that doesn’t make them a bad person.

Trash talk and after game messages are two different things. Trash talking is a competitive type thing, so that’s ok (to an extent; i.e. no slurs). Messages are different. I imagine there are two kinds of people who send after game messages: kids and adults who are kind of low on the totem pole. Kids get a pass because they’re kids, they haven’t started life yet. But if you’re an adult who is sending after game messages targeting people, then chances are that you find your identity in a game. So if you find your life successes in winning TDM, then yeah, you probably are going to be mad that you lost and it wasn’t your fault, but more angry than average. There’s obviously exceptions; I bet there is adults out there who have lives who do this stuff. But people low on the totem pole are more likely to find identity in a game, and therefore more likely to send messages. It doesn’t necessarily make them a bad person, but it shows lack of self-control over a game.

I usually just mute players that complain nonstop or get hostile. If they get to the point of messaging me hate messages I either won’t respond or I just remind them it’s just a game and laugh at how mad they are. At that point you can report them if they cross the line. Xbox usually handles things fairly from there.

It’s few and far between that someone sends me a hate message, but on the rare occasion they do I either ignore it or just send the thumbs up back. Ultimately it is a random person who you will never meet in real life and who doesn’t matter to you in the grand scheme of things. If they continue to message you, just block them. I see no reason to report someone because I consider it a waste of time. To each their own though

There is a mute button for a reason, if they keep talking and crying, just do better than them and they will shut up

I doubt Microsoft (of which 343i is a part) cares much about enforcing anything in live voice chat.
A few days after the Orlando night club shooting (remind you 50 were killed) a guy during a game said some very bad things about how he would like to treat gay people.
reported him and nothing happened
on text communication they seem to act a little better
instead of muting, blocking, reporting or what ever I would prefer a Reach style orbital strike on their location - problem really solved LOL
