i’m sure some of you have noticed, but have you had that moment (especially on Truth and Reconciliation) where you see a guy and start shooting, only to notice that your shots stop mid-air like they’re hitting something? so you go back into classic mode to find out that your actually shooting a rock…343 just screwed up the textures.
i never know whether theres an actually walkable pathway, or if its just a cliff D:
Textures are the image files applied to the models. I have noticed this problem and it’s just a matter of the new environment models don’t quite match the hit boxes (or whatever the terrain equivalent is) of the old game.
Yeah, I just noticed that. I was trying to get the achievement for killing all of the Covenant without being detected and this was really messing me up. I would shoot a grunt only to have my bullet hit an invisible rock. Also, is it just me or are the turrets a little off too?
Its not textures, and 343 didn’t mess anything up. They did it exactly as it was 10 years ago. There is an invisible barrier a few inches around each object. This wouldn’t be a problem if you would wait for your reticle to turn red before you shoot, instead of going trigger happy as some people do as soon as they get their hands on a good weapon.

It’s true that the original has a little collision dissonance around some objects, but terrain surfaces as opposed to object surfaces are actually quite precise. Anniversary has a lot of such surfaces that aren’t even close to where they should be. All of those inlets with the 3 bars running across in T&R, for instance, look in Anniversary like they provide far better (by more than a foot) cover than they actually do.
I’m almost finished with my second playthrough, and I have not encountered this issue even once, and I always play with the new graphics. Although, I have seen a LOT of issues with loading textures. Blurry doors everywhere.
