Has Uncle Phil Said Anything Yet?

I would like to preface this with context about me. I think Infinite is a great game. A must try for any shooter fan without a doubt. That being said…

Has anyone seen Phil Spencer make a statement about the community attention on Infinite’s store pricing or the BTB server disconnect rates? Do you think he needs to, and if not who would you like a statement from?

For context, last year Infinite was being marketed as Halo taking the Xbox screaming right back into modern gaming relevancy. Does this weight necessitate input from the head of Xbox on something that it’s getting a whole lot of negative community attention? It’s difficult to really discuss other parts of the game on the forums and other places like reddit. Even if a thread doesn’t get overtaken by store and technical failure topics, there are so many of those threads that anything else just drops out of the front page.

I think it’s more likely to come from 343 than Microsoft. Microsoft just tends to do announcements and good stats etc. Anything personal for each game tends to come from the Devs themselves.

Should definitely address the BTB issues.

The store is what it is, people just need to accept that’s what you get with FTP games

I don’t think we need to hear anything from Phil, not sure what good that would do. I played PUBG on Xbox since day one of it’s release in beta. The game had huge problems back then, Microsoft and Xbox did step in and sent PUBG resources to help out, and they did help out. I’m not sure how that works for first party titles but with Microsoft/Xbox stepping in and sending people to PUBG to help with the development of PUBG really paid off.

Honestly: he’d have to be pretty crazy to do this now. Most of the major news outlets have given the game a pass on being buggy and are touting it as the best shooter of the season (vs. Vanguard and Battlefield). If he was to make an announcement it would just generate bad press.

As things are now it’s mostly contained within the Halo community. As for BTB - 343 has acknowledged the issue and said that it’s a high priority to fix once people are back. Same goes for the progression system - they acknowledged it, said it’d take time and made adjustments to allow for progression through each played game as far as possible under the current system (e.g. changing the kinds of challenges in the dailies queue).

When it comes to the store - this will likely depend mostly on whether or not people are buying. If they are buying at the current prices I don’t think they will drop them.

Yea, that’s true. Maybe hearing something from Bonnie Ross would make more sense, though we’ll probably just get more info from sketch.

That’s true. At this point he might want to stay quiet unless the ‘word of mouth’ on the issues keeps getting bigger and bigger
