So I threw a plasma grenade and stuck an enemy, then my brilliant teamate decided he wanted that kill, and rushed the guy that was stuck and whaddya know…i get a betrayal and get booted.
Isn’t it rather frustrating that the some of the Halo multiplayer population community seems so trigger happy with booting someone? Would it kill anyone to actually apply some thought and think “Hmmm maybe that was my own fault…”
the problem with the boot system is it gives you no time to consider anything, the player who was betrayed has no time to determine if the betrayal was on purpose or not(all they can see is a blue screen saying they were betrayed). so if they don’t boot you right then and there, they may not get another chance(if you did do it on purpose). hence why most people just boot someone right away.
my solution would to be have them allow you to boot the player after you respawn(not before), possibly putting the option to boot someone in the same place as the mute option(though the option to boot wouldn’t appear until after they betrayed you) .
this would allow the betrayed player more time to determine if the betrayal was on accident or not and give them a little longer to cool off. also if someone betrayed you for a power weapon this could give you time to get right next to them, boot them, and then get your weapons back. lastly i would add a time limit on the betrayal option, like 45 seconds or something, that way people can’t wait tell the very end of the game just to boot a player with 2 seconds remaining.

It would be a good idea to make the pop up be a little bar at the bottom of the screen, and replace the camera that looks at your body with a killcam of the betrayer. You could also put an “ignore for now” option that would put the option next to the mute button like you said, although it would probably need to expire after a minute or something so a-holes can’t wait until the end of the match and to boot.
Wow, what an excellent point Vo ArchAngel oV! I never took this into consideration before, but its so obvious. To solve the issue, you should be allowed to view the betrayer after they have killed you.
I boot with respect and honour. If a teammate has been a constant pain or is purposely ruining our team’s fun, ya I boot. If a teammate kills me because of my actions, I forgive. One time offenses against me are usually forgiven. Outright betraying me, even once, that’s a boot.
Yup. Idiots think it’s funny to keep emping me while im in a wraith and stand on top. Enemy Ghost coming so i shoot. Boom betrayal and booted. Really frustrating :@
ha yeah its stupid. I had an incident like that where my teammate threw a sticky nade, I just happened to spawn right in front of him as he threw it. He got a betrayal and I was given the option to boot him. Like that was anyone’s fault? I’m not one to boot unless they are intentionally trying to betray me.

this may not fit here but i was playing snipers and i assassinated an enemy and my limited teammate tries to yoink it but hes too late and ends up headshotting me after i already got the assassination. Fortunately, it gave the option to boot him even though it was the first betrayal. Lmao
