Has the DMR been fixed yet?

Or is there any word on whether or not it will be?

Do you plan on changing your strategy in fighting it?

Nothing… no talk of weapon balancing.

> Do you plan on changing your strategy in fighting it?

I haven’t played the game since the first map pack launched.

But, when I was playing, you can’t really “change strategy” to fight an overpowered weapon. Seriously, it trumps other weapons at closer ranges. It NEEDS to be fixed.

It’s not overpowered, it’s simply the best weapon to use.

And consequently, the most skillful. Why don’t you use it? Is it because you can’t get kills with it when all the other skilled players 5-shot you? Spend some time playing with it.

There is nothing to fix. Halo is a skilled FPS with a utility rifle that allows for effective fighting against other weapons in the sandbox. Rockets, sniper, shotgun, etc balance this out, but the DMR always give you the potential to counter those weapons.

You are joking right??

There is no skill in using the dmr. Its by far the easiest weapon to use in the game.

Indeed!! This!!!

Overpowered means the weapons wins 90% of the time. It’s more like the DMR wins 70% of the time.

It’s much harder to fight with a DMR in close combat against an AR and Suppressor. In long range combat it can get bested by a skilled Lightrifle user. If I were you I’d suggest using Regen field + mobility to hide quickly when losing a battle. Hard Light shield is also great against the DMR at long distances.

Why don’t we ever talk about how bad the suppressor is? You know, mix things up a bit.

In response, the DMR is simply better. I have yet to see a scenario it doesn’t excel in. Further range than the BR, decent kill time, and the bloom is basically there for show to say “Remember this from Halo Reach? Isn’t this way better?”

Each weapon has a pretty blatant downside. The light rifle, for example, has an extremely powerful zoomed blast, but that changes to a battle rifle style “3 shot burst” when zoomed out that from my experience, doesn’t do nearly the damage the battle rifle does. It also goes through ammo like it’s nobody’s business. The BR is good close to mid range, but takes some considerable skill to use effectively at longer ranges. The Carbine is comparable to the BR in range, has a high rate of fire, but doesn’t do as much damage and isn’t nearly as accurate when taking advantage of that high ROF.

The DMR just doesn’t have any noticeable flaws that counteract it’s merits. Some will tell you it’s bad at close range, but we all know that’s untrue. I’ve seen my fair share of people (Myself included) mutilate other players in close range, from AR’s to BR’s. Others will say it’s the only weapon with a “Bloom” reticule, but I can say from experience that that doesn’t really mean anything. Just keep hammering on the trigger and you’ll land the head shot every time.

This is obviously what I think on it all. It’s not that it’s over powered, it just doesn’t have a flaw that makes another rifle a viably better option.

We need more threads on the suppressor being awful, really. THAT’S a weapon that needs some love.

How funny and ridiculous your posting is lollllll, I consider myself a decent player and only play games for fun, no to compete, not really good at using weapons with scope doesn’t mean I suck at it. but 4th time using the DMR I got 37 kills 20 head shots, 5th time using it I got 40 kills, the DMR is a weapon for noobs who suck at the game and use this weapon.

343i has said nothing specific about ever fixing weapons as of yet.

We have to guess what they consider mistakes.

There was announced a large TU for late febuary, So get your hopes high

To the DMR fanboys in this topic: it’s a power weapon and you’re not good going 30-5 with it whether you want to think you’re good or not

The bullet magnetism on the DMR is the game playing for you.
Play any other game in the series, or in any series, and test your aim there.

Fixed implies that there is something wrong with it. How about instead of -Yoinking!- you learn how to use it?

The DMR is -Yoink-. I refuse to use it…it makes the game so damn easy. All you DMR noobs pick up a LR and get hosed.

It has not been fixed.

Unfortunately, the DMR is still woefully underpowered.

Rate of fire needs to be increased.

Stopping power needs to be increased.

Blooms needs to further decrease.

this happens. Halo dies.

To anyone that has played Guild Wars 1 would agree the DMR needs a “Smiters Booning”.To people that havent played it wouldnt understand, so i wont explain.ArenaNet are masters at balancing, maybe 343 should give them a call, they will learn allot.

To the people who think the DMR is balanced, i dare you to use nothing but the Light Rifle for a week, watch what happens. What people fail to realize is its not the RoF and damage that needs a nerf, its the bloom and magnetism.Try using a LR or CC and you will see just how bad the magnetism is on the DMR.It has zero recoil, what little bloom it has resets after each shot making its accuracy flawless, to make matters worse, it has magnetism.A rifle that is suppose to represent accuracy, fails to do so when the player does not need to be accurate.

Most of the guns are fairly balanced in their niche in-game.The CC may need a tiny damage boost to keep it on even terms with the BR, but little else is needed.

The Boltshot is a story in its own, so no point in explaining how broken it is regarding primary and secondary firing features.
