If you look at the new REQ tutorial, you can see that the battle rifle scope has changed, as depicted in the REQ card. If you look at older warzone gameplay, specifically the battle rifle’s REQ card, you will notice that the battle rifle has the same scope from the beta. Do you think the scope has been changed? Personally, I like the new scope better. How about you?
I think they are adding back the Halo 2/3 variant of the Battle Rifle as a REQ weapon, much like how they did with the SPNKr Rocket Launcher and (according to rumors) the Halo CE Pistol.
I think they are both in game.
Weapons have different attachments now in the REQ packs
You can have different scopes and even a bayonet on your weapons but its all earned through REQ packs
Edit: Also only usable in Warzone.
I hope so
Looks more like a req pack varient. Though I’d love to have the battlerifle with the classic scope as a pick up. Not a fan of the new BR scope.

Agreed, but you know…if 343 didn’t “evolve” the Battle Rifle, it would eventually die off, because of reasons.
It better not be. I love the new battle rifle scope.

LOL. A popular logic in this forum.

Seeing that you love it and all, I thought I’d let you know that the new BR has the equivalent of an Iron/Reflex hybrid sight…it does not have a scope. That’s why you are aiming straight down the center of the BR in Halo 5, and why you can see the gun, even while your “zoomed” in. This is called ADS…because that’s literally what you’re doing…Aiming Down Sights. I’m sure you’ll tell me you disagree and go on to reference something called “SmartLink” or “SmartScope”. Feel free to do so if you wish, but I will just reply with Aiming Down Sights is Aiming Down Sights, because it is…

You mean reflex its more like a zoom piece rather than an actual scope that zooms further.
Looks like the scope from the sentinel BR from Gamestop, just no Bloodthirst skin on it

You’re right… I wish 343i never tried to go with the smartLink explanation… Because they aren’t making sense.
they would have been better off explaining that the scope on some guns (i.e. pistol, BR) have been replaced with iron sights to limit their effectiveness at longer ranges.
Other guns do still appear to have scopes that ‘SmartLink’ to the Spartans view screen (i.e. sniper rifle, rocket launcher), while others the Spartan physically aims down the sights, like the DMR.
to me, these distinctions appear to be an effort to balance and differentiate the weaponry, which is fine by me, but their explanations suck.

Exactly. Though, even when “zooming in” with the guns that do have scopes on them, it’s obvious that your Spartan is looking into the scopes, rather than having a scoped view displayed on the visor/HUD like in all the past Halo games. This is especially clear when using the DMR, because you can see some of the back parts of the gun and even the scope itself.
While I hate the fact that they’ve put the mechanic on precision weapons, but what bothers me more than anything is how they sold it to everyone by calling it what had always been in past Halo titles (SmartLink) while denying it was…well…exactly what it is…Aiming Down Sights.
Part of the Req pack system is getting a weapon with a different scope.
