Has sprint been completely modified in Infinite??

I rewatched the MP trailer (the 2 min. video), and when the woodland spartan with the gravity hammer starts sprinting and shoots the Battle Rifle, i noticed that the sprint to fire time and animation was instantaneous, the heavy head-bobbing animation was still playing, and most importantly, he looked like he never slowed down when firing, meaning he was still sprinting when shooting the rifle. Does that mean that Infinite is adopting the Black Mesa-like sprint where there is a speed boost and an animation, but can shoot while running, or is just the movement that made it seem like he never slowed down.

I watched it at 0.25 speed and i still couldnt see him slowing down or doing some sort of sprint recovery like in every other Halo with sprint

Ya it seems that Sprint is Not really faster but allows Sprint related movement to execute like slide.

Shooting seems Instant but as far as i know that was the case in halo 5 as Well.

I’ve seen a couple threads around regarding this. I have no idea what Black Mesa is but we can only really speculate until they tell us outright or we get our hands on it.

It was mentioned even in last year’s trailer that the sprint didn’t seem as fast as H5 which I agreed with but it was hard for us to judge being that he hopped right into a Warthog instead of firing.

This year though, it’s hard to tell because you see a lot of things happening it what seems to be a “sprint” animation. (Flag pulling, shooting, etc)

While I can only speculate, I have three theories:

  1. Sprint is in the game, just slower and a more ‘guns up’ approach so we don’t have the dichotomy between speed and combat to choose from.
  2. They have a momentum/acceleration system where the longer you move in a direction, the fast you go (capped out) and then when you let up, you bring up the weapon. (Doubtful)
  3. They’ve increased your overall movement/walk speed so you seem like you’re running and are given run animations, but there’s no actual sprint in the game.

If I had to bet, I’d say it’s 1. I think they definitely toned down sprint but a lot of the shots showed fire while sprints which I don’t know how I feel about. I’m open to it, we’ll just have to see. I’m more keen on a more ‘guns up’ approach where you raise your weapon quicker out of sprint. I feel like that will speed up the overall feel of the game and rectify the whole sprint debate with H5.

It seems slower and less impactful when shooting. In my opinion this is the best compromise for classic players.

Maybe you can shoot and sprint now, which would probably solve some of the gripes of the non sprinters.

You could argue that if you can shoot while sprinting, then why do we have sprinting at all. May as well just make that the base speed.

If the accuracy is nerfed dramatically, I could see this working as a compromise. And no zoomed weapon use either. Essentially you make the AR/SMG the least useless while sprinting.

Yeah thats what I was thinking, sprinting and AR sounds like it would be kind of broken, unless its just not, guess we will find out.

Black Mesa is a remake of the original Half Life. The game has sprint, but you have 2 options: walk at a lower speed and sprint when you want to (and shoot while you do it), or move at the sprint speed (with no animation) all the time and walk just when you feel the need to move slower without crouching. For what i was able to see, Infinite (at least the MP) uses the first approach, where you walk normally and sprint when you want to and can shoot while doing so

i think sprint just might be an animation for top speed. slide would be the new animation for thrusters, except fot forward thrust being insta “sprint” circumventing the normal speed up time. basicly toned down halo 5 mythic slayer settings, but with a sprint&slide animation set. clamber seems to be just an animation too, as the spartan academy segment in the multiplayer overview trailer shows only a jump button prompt, but no clamber prompt.

i would realy much like if this possibility is true.
