Has it actual gone gold

I am buzzing for Halo 5, I have booked a week of work and have the master chief controller ready, I heard today that forge will be delayed until december which is annoying but there is plenty to get on with, A game going gold means it’s fully complete and ready to ship to shops but Halo 5 won’t have forge on release so surely it’s not a complete game?

Yes it did.
Forge is a service now, similar to GTA online/Metal Gear Online that came later.

think of forge as an expansion pack…

But it’s free. So I don’t mind the wait. If they were going to charge us. Then it would be reason to be upset

Halo 5 doesn’t have its free dlc maps yet either. It won’t be ‘fully complete’ until it has them, but that doesn’t mean it hasn’t gone gold.

Going gold means that they are taking whatever code they have of the game and putting it on a disk. These days they still work on polishing the game further (finding any more bugs etc.) during the shipping process then applying them as a day one update.

From google: Going gold is when “its publisher has determined it’s good enough to be shipped to stores”

The Master Chief collection sure shouldn’t’ have “gone gold” in its days of release.

But I think the hype for Halo 5 going gold really leads us to believe this is a stable working game worth buying day one.

The Master Chief Collection probably still shouldn’t have gone gold…

True

It has gone gold in the sense that everything that has to be on release date is working fine.

It’s ready to ship. The game is complete. The way you’re putting it, that would be like saying any game with DLC that is developed after its initial release is incomplete

Stores already have copies of it, so yeah its gold.

Going Gold just means the release version has been sent to publishers for production.

Sadly regardless if a game really is complete or not it’s 2 weeks before release and its time to go gold regardless of condition

Just because things are released post launch, does not mean they are delayed. They have repeatedly said it is within their plans.

Big team battle, Forge, all planned for post launch. (If they have actually worded any of this as a delay, I must have missed it)
