Has Halo Become A Betrayal Contest?

Friends,

I’m a bit dumbfounded as to why my teammates want to betray me in objective games. I’m new to these forums and I haven’t read up much on betrayals. It seems to happen on “Assault” game types more than others. I usually get the first score, then I grab the bomb again, and as soon as I’m about 3/4 of the way toward the detonation point my team wants to betray me.

Is it because they want an easy way to score? Is it because I’m doing something wrong? Is it because they’re angry children? Is it because they’re just looking to increase their k/d spread and I’m shortening the game time?

I’m thinking it’s all of the above but I might be wrong, which is why I’m bringing this to the community.

I’ve always played with a team and betraying is an accidental occurrence. Since I’ve moved back to Los Angeles my time zone differs from my usual playing partners. I’m hardly able to play with my friends anymore and I’ve been having to fly solo for the time being. Yet, now I’m experiencing this betrayal culture that I’ve never experienced before. It’s really a new thing for me.

I don’t consider myself a bad player. I do my best to stick to the team/objective. I always try to support my team and the objective.

I would like to know the communities thoughts.

Thanks in advance for your responses.

It keeps happening. Example: I just scored twice in CTF (my last capture won the match) and my team kept trying to betray me while running the flag. What has this game turned into? I’m fighting my own teams more than the opposing teams.

I fully agree. stopped playing because its near impossible to play a match where your teammates dont quit or betray. (just as bad when the other team does it)

I think its because they wanted a different map or setting…

Slayer players (majority of players) absolutely seem to hate objective. Dont want to blame them, I just notice its almost always on objective gametypes that are the worst for it

Thanks for your feedback! It’s great to hear your experiences and opinions. I haven’t stopped playing the game as you have. I seem to be good enough to dodge the bullets (even if the bullets are from my team) and still obtain the objective at hand. I’m not a great player… though I’ve somehow won objective games against my own team and the enemy at the same time.

I hope for more responses on this topic.

I die more by being naded by teammates than actually getting killed by the enemy team. Your teammates are your true enemies.

Usually in ctf or assult last score people betray so they can make the game last longer to get more kills

stop crying

Do you play Griff Ball?

Yep, that’s what it seems to be. Funny how I still end up winning against my own team.

Of course, that goes without saying. I’m more lenient about being betrayed by nade spam, as long as they get the other guy too. Getting betrayed by nade spam means you’re in the wrong spot.

Yeah, I used to play it a lot. That game is crazy fun. You go into that game expecting to be blasted by your own team. Griffball is it hot for betrayals, it goes without saying. Getting upset with it is pointless. Bash and go!

You new to Halo as well?

This “betrayal culture” has existed since the dawn of Halo multiplayer. Yeah it sucks, but people will exploit anything and everything and not just in Halo.

Nope, not new. Been playing since the release of C.E. As I said… I’ve always played with friends or team so I never really experienced the horrible betrayal culture behind the game. Pretty fortunate in that sense. Over the last few days I’ve learned how to deal with these -Yoink- tards. I still win and do better than my team. All is good, though it would be nice to play an objective game type without my team just looking for stats. It’s ok, I get the win anyways. Go team!

Last night I was playing with a buddy of mine, and we saw players quit out of almost every game; it was quite annoying. Best thing to do, just play with a full party of people so you can avoid the quitters.
