Has Commando been improved?

I haven’t usted the Commando since the last update, but I knew it was getting a buff, and it’s a weapons I like but just couldn’t get used to it because it was really bad, so I would like to know your opinions on the current state of the VK78.

Yes, I think it has been. I’ve been able to get a couple perfects with it from medium-ish range.

The only thing i’ve noticed is a little de-sync where if i hold down the trigger it’ll fire faster then it registers on screen and in game.

Very, very good. Definitely more reliable than it was since launch. My personal go-to whenever I’m setting up a blinting loadout.

Yeah the buff it received while not extreme has definitely made the gun feel like a more viable close to mid-range precision weapon. It’s fairly accurate now and I can actually finish people off before I empty the clip and have to reload or swap to my other gun to clean up the kill.

It’s okay but I’m in the minority who liked the Commando before the Buff a lot better

It’s a little broken now actually, in a way that makes it very powerful. But it still feels horrible to use somehow.

They really needed to just reduce the bloom.

Yeah now u actually dont need skill to use it … lol is noob friendly now like with the pulse and plasma pistol lol

You know I kinda get that. I think it’s how fast it fires. Even when I’m trying to pace my shots it frequently fires two or three shots when I’m trying to only do 1. Since the flights I’ve been trying to use it like I would a needle rifle, but the fire rate just makes it so hard to fully control.

I think the true way to properly fix and rebalance the commando would be to slightly reduce its rate of fire and increase its per bullet damage to equal out a kill in the same amount of time it has currently. This way it’s bloom would have more time to reset and the lower rate of fire would make it easier to use selective fire.

I think they may need to increase the recoil a bit. Just a tiny bit. :pinching_hand:

Increase? It’s still absurd. The recoil is what makes it kick up after each shot. If you were to increase its recoil with its current settings the gun would just go straight to being unusable.

From where I’m standing, it may need an increase. It’s starting to feel less like the skillful weapon that 343 intended it to be.

Then again it may not need a nerf. Maybe it’s just the shock of the commando suddenly being good now getting to me. Idk.

It’s one of those weapons that got me feeling unsure about sandbox wise. I love what they’ve done, don’t get me wrong. It just feels a bit too strong and I don’t want them to touch the aim assist.

I get that, but increasing recoil would just make it super hard to use. You’d have to pace your shots and that would completely negate the rapid fire use. At that point it would only be used for point blank hip fire spray and pray for a headshot. It would be like a slower firing headshot capable saw… or like basically any automatic rifles in CoD. :face_vomiting:

Or, you could just, remove Bloom and keep it as it is, while tacking on recoil. Y’know? Because it’s not a DMR and was never meant to be. It’s an intermediary between the BR and AR. But… Not the right one. I don’t think we’ll see it again after Infinite, tbh.

No you wouldn’t. Just… Hold the control stick down a little more, like you would with the sentinel beam. It’d be just like that.

It already has strong recoil you have to compensate for. If that was increased then your ability to control it and purposefully go for headshots would basically disappear. It would become an unwieldy precision weapon that you would never actually use as a precision weapon.

The issue is the lack of aim assist and magnet bullet with all Weaponsexcept the BR.
They should insert same setting like Halo 5 for Controller

If you think this recoil is strong, you sincerely need to try Counter-Strike, lol.

Counter-Strike is a far more realistic aim down sights first person shooter. That game is meant to be played a very specific way in this meant to be far more realistic. Halo is a fun party arcade shooter. It’s not meant to have overly realistic recoil compared to other games that guns in them that are actual real life guns.

Just think about the Halo CE assault rifle. With how fast that gun fired do you not think that it would have insane recoil? Never has never will because Halo isn’t that type of game.

Um. Derk.

Counter-Strike’s only ADS weapons are scoped. Everything else is hipfire. I… wouldn’t really call Counter-Strike realistic.

EDIT:

Actually Rate of Fire has nothing to do with recoil, it’s far more about caliber. Which, given the MA5B fires a 7.62x51mm NATO round, and fires 60 of them, as fast as it does, would be totally insane recoil. Tell you what though, a one ton super soldier in powered armor wouldn’t have a lot of issue with that.

But, like, regardless.

Derk if you’re going to argue against something you need to have some idea of what you’re talking about.

I know, I’m just concerned. It’s really raising waves among the competitive community.
