Has anyone found a fix for broken forge map textures in Customs?

I have a map that I worked VERY LONG AND HARD on getting all my budget categories below 100% and I am STILL having about 20% of my blocks etc. spawning in with INCORRECT textures and colors.
(In Custom Games…Everything looks perfect in Forge)

I thought it was that my FX budget was over 100%, so I sacrificed some really lovely stuff to accommodate the budget restraints, and NO LUCK.

Still broken textures.

What gives?

Has anyone found a solution yet?

I know sometimes when I load into Empyrean, the stairs look like mud, so my guess is this is just a glitch that will (hopefully) get patched in the full Forge release. .And 343’s own Forge maps are well over 100% FX budget, so you’re probably OK there.

This is a glitch in forge that will need some time before it’s properly fixed. I know my buddy is facing something very similar with his map designs.

So true, forge has many things need fixing. I doubt it’s the way we made our map. Best just keep it how it is, and hope the bug fixes eventually. Cuz I’ve seen maps run perfect, then the next week it doesn’t.

Use Plastic as your texture, it’s the only one that doesn’t get glitched.

That’s not a solution.

That’s like saying the only way to deal with a glitched Fire FX Emitter is to use Water FX Emitters instead.

I will use Plastic textures for plastic items.
…ONLY.

343; fix yo -Yoink!-.

I apologize for sounding salty.
My emotions got the better of me.
I have been a huge fan of Halo since the first title, and I’ve never experienced disappointment in my Halo experience … until now.
It is as lame for me to feel this way about Halo, as I’m sure it sounds to hear me gripe about it.
But here we are.

This was a thread that I found useful, although it doesn’t resolve the issue of ‘having to use plastic textures’

https://forums.halowaypoint.com/t/a-hint-to-forgers-on-how-to-avoid-messed-up-textures-on-objects-works-100/559968

Hope this somewhat helps and explains the trouble you’re having

Hopefully this issues resolves in the next Season/official release for Forge

How is that helpful?
How does it "explain the trouble " I’m having?

Look:
If I make a map with objects that require 47 DIFFERENT textures in order to be immersive and convincing of the aesthetic I am attempting to achieve, and yet, seemingly randomly, 4 of those textures present as completely different textures to what I intended during Custom games (You know- when my map has a public audience and my pride is on the line), you cannot simply sit there and tell me that the solution is to switch all of my “Forerunner Panel H” textures to “Plastic”…and all my " UNSC Aluminum Dark" textures to “Plastic” and all my “Gravel 02” textures to “Plastic” and all my “Banished Tread Plate” textures to “Plastic”…

…do you see where I’m going with this?

That’s not a solution.
It’s not even a workaround.
It’s a shame, is what it is.

FWIW: I have GIMPED my map down to something like 84% FX Budget by completely removing several beautiful FX emitters and then finally by stripping ODDBALL from my map -
(Those Oddball Plates, CTF Plates, KOTH Plates, Strongholds Plates ALL eat up a TON of FX Budget…of all these, Oddball was the Game Type that I played the least often on the map, so it got the axe…)

  • and now the map is showing up with proper textures, although completely handicapped in the aesthetics dept.

Again, this is not a solution.

No Halo Title Since Halo 3 had any issues allowing you to build a map that supported ALL of the Game Types the title had to offer…until Infinite.
Now, apparently, you have to CHOOSE which game types you have to tell players they CANNOT PLAY on your map…
Again- not cool.

Well, if anyone’s curious to see what’s LEFT of my map, after “the culling”, here’s a link…it’s still a pretty cool map…

Yo homie with all due respect, take a step back and take it down a notch

I am not 343, do not direct your anger out on me

Do not forget, that this is still a ‘Beta’ and is not the full release of Forge

Like I said:

Hopefully this issues resolves in the next Season/official release for Forge

It is -Yoink!- and it sucks, but don’t take your anger out on others just because you can

I should have clarified somewhat further than just posting a thread, so I will acknowledge that and say that I was lazy in that regard; not enough to receive that response, especially after you previously said:

I apologize for sounding salty.
My emotions got the better of me.

Out of love man, I get that this stuff is really frustrating, especially after spending many hours working on a map; I get it

Just learn from your actions rather than repeat them, I was only and sincerely trying to help

  1. Now I had a look at your map, and from what I could see there were:
  • a lot of objects/large objects, spread across a wide area
  • a large area for light to travel, including in darkness; and rain
  • the map was quite large in size

I don’t how this can affect the FX budget, but this could be a factor

From what I have seen maps that are within budget, but have a lot going on, will tend to drop the frame-rate on consoles due to: a lot of objects/large objects, condensed or spread across a wide area

  1. The reason why I posted that thread, and from what I saw, I believe that you were using the paint texture on a number of your objects?

Like mentioned in that thread I listed, this is was the texture that most people were having trouble with

I mentioned this (paint textures) and a large area for light to travel, and they managed to fix these issues; regarding textures not loading in properly

You can find it here:

https://www.halowaypoint.com/halo-infinite/ugc/maps/39207f41-f699-4f55-956a-08a60754bced

Although like I said previously, remember that this is listed as a Beta, hence why there will be problems that shouldn’t be there

To conclude I do hope what I said helped

I know it sucks, but it is what it is, and we can only move forward from where we are at

If we don’t come to accept that, it will only leave us more frustrated

Take care homie, and good work on the map; looks good

Looking back, it did look like I was aiming my complaints in your direction, but this was not my intention.

I was just venting ; yelling at the sky, as it were…
You were actually the second person to direct me to the “Plastic” thread, and that set me off, moodwise. Not at YOU, but at the general absurdity of the idea that I should need to use “wrong” textures in order to keep my “right” textures from looking wrong.
(The absurdity being that they look wrong either way)

I appreciate your thoughtful and thorough response, and I take to heart your suggestion of minding my tone.

Interesting Discovery:

So, I had thought I had fixed this problem by removing the Oddball Plates, as I had tested it once afterwards in Customs, and it seemed to work …with Bots…

However, just now I was playing a different map of mine, with an Open Lobby, had a couple players join in and things were going smoothly, and then when the match ended, I set up a second match, on THIS map, readjusted my Bots, and fired it up, only to discover that the textures had broken again…same ones as before.

Afterwards, I closed the Lobby, Quit Halo Infinite from the menu, and rebooted the game, and started up another Open Lobby Custom Match, had players join, and the map looked perfect again…then took these new players into the FIRST map, and indeed had a bunch of broken textures there too.

I am now wondering if it has more to do with Networking/ Server glitches than Forge itself…like I am wondering if the other players are even seeing the textures as “broken” the way I am on my end… It almost just seems to be a hiccup in translation regarding the Internet rather than the map itself…I dunno.

Well you asked for a solution and this is the only one I got at the moment. I myself had to abandon my Mirrors Edge inspired map because the bricks textures I wanted get messed up in customs with the 30 color spread returning. It got me so frustrated that I deleted the game. I finished my BTB map but it was easier because it’s mostly a natural environment and stock assets that don’t get messed up.
I feel your pain, man. Between the forge bugs and the non-existent population to actually play our forge creations I’m done with it. I had my fun with forge but I don’t see the point in creating maps that nobody will play. I’m not getting paid unlike 343 lol. I had a lot of ideas for forge maps but they will never get made.

I once had a bug in a custom match on my map when the sun suddenly changed position midmatch. That was weird lol.
