With new gameplay released, I’m surprised how this hasn’t come up in the forums again. We see Master Chief go into cry in Mark VI suit and for the gameplay for the first mission he is in Mark VII ( at least I think he is) now these do not resemble each other one bit, except for the HUD a little. Cortana probably couldn’t change the shape and complete design of his armor while he slept could she?
Thoughts?
He still is wearing mark Vl.

So why does it look so different? HMMMMM?
Or maybe he woke up to take on the new armor.
Seriously, this is such a minor thing.
Above all, he needs to stay fresh, which mean getting at least a better looking helmet in every new game. How he obtains it is of secondary concern to me.
The new armor is only cosmetic changes because of the new engine.

New developer, new art direction. The way 343i visualizes how the Mark VI looks is different than how Bungie visualized it.
Actually, in Halo: Glasslands, it says that the armor is made from nanotech and is able to repair and even upgrade itself, so Cortana didn’t actually have anything to do with it. It was designed to do that by itself. Pretty cool if you ask me.

Look at my avatar, then look at new chief. That is not just a cosmetic change.

Thanky you, as a havn’t read glass lands. You’d think those nanos would get rid of his scratch on the chest plate though
Because 343 didn’t have the resources to make a super high res model of Mark 6 for one level until they encountered some contrived reason for Chief to have different armor, so they just didn’t bother. Stupid and distracting, yes, but nothing we can really do about it.

Pretty sure Cortana can access Chief’s suit while in cryo-sleep. This allows her to make modifications and upgrades herself.
What else would she do with all that spare time? Ponders
EDIT: I haven’t read Glasslands, but I guess we’ll find out for sure when the game comes out. You can bet it will be explained if it hasn’t been definitively explained already.

it only works in cryo

Those nanos only apply in th new generation of Spartans, though. At least I think, the chick in Glasslands had Mark 7 or something. In any case he was frozen over completely and I don’t think a bunch of nano machines would be able to generate modifications that drastic, especially when he’s basically a block of ice.

> I think its lazy for 343 to just turn around and go “oh its the same old armour just better graphics” it looks hardly anything like the mark 6
read glasslands or see the above comments
Can elites do that too?
